Heads or tails?

Mayor Pro Tem Deborah Lewis joined Dos Palos Mayor Katy Reed at Pacheco High School Friday night for the coin toss ahead of the Panthers’ home matchup against Dos Palos High School.

The matchup came after Los Banos High School took on Dos Palos in the annual Westside War, with the Tigers earning a 22–19 victory. Friday night, Dos Palos came away with the win over Pacheco.

A big shoutout to all three teams for representing their communities with pride and sportsmanship!

Go Tigers! 🐯 Go Panthers! 🐾

The Los Banos Police Department responded to Miano Elementary School this afternoon after a parent reported hearing a “pop” sound in the area.

As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown while officers responded and checked the surrounding area. Officers were unable to locate any evidence of criminal activity or an ongoing threat.

The lockdown has since been lifted, and normal school operations have resumed.

We appreciate the quick response of school staff and officers and thank families and community members for their patience.

Nearly 3,000 lives were lost on September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

Today, we remember.

Throughout Los Banos, our community came together to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11 and honor the lives lost.

At Los Banos Elementary School, students and staff gathered with the Los Banos Fire Department, Los Banos Police Department and Los Banos VFW for a remembrance ceremony.

At Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, first responders received a special blessing as the community gathered to remember those who lost their lives and those who answered the call to serve.

25 years later, we remember. And we will never forget.
