The California Reading & Literature Project (CRLP) intends that all California students complete high school with the academic language and literacy skills required to succeed in higher education and the 21st century workforce. To this end, CRLP establishes partnerships with schools and districts to provide teachers with high-quality, standards-based professional development for teaching language
and literacy. The project’s effectiveness stems from original values and the evolution of new elements that serve them:
• Experiential engagement of teachers, by way of study, teaching, assessment, collaboration and reflection
• Up-to-date knowledge and tools for successfully teaching the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and English Language Development (ELD) standards in K-12 classrooms
• Strong research-based e!orts in high-priority schools and districts, with CRLP acting as a bridge between university and classroom settings
