Starting in 2028, LA County voters will elect a County Executive for the first time ever — one official serving all 10 million of us. This new role was created by Measure G (passed by voters in 2024), and it’ll be one of the most powerful positions in California.

The Task Force designing this role, Los Angeles County Governance Reform Task Force, wants to hear from YOU 🫵 Take 10 minutes to fill out the survey (link in bio) by Monday, September 7, and help shape how this new position works for your community.

Barri Worth Girvan is the best choice for the West Valley, and LA Forward is proud to support her for LA City Council District 3!

Barri Worth Girvan for City Council 2026 backs policies to tackle the housing crisis directly, supports a compassionate approach to homelessness that gets people off the streets and into housing, and is eager to promote unarmed crisis response services across the Valley. She’ll champion climate solutions and back long-term infrastructure planning to fix broken sidewalks, streetlights, and potholes.

Her supporters include environmental organizations and progressive unions — while her opponent is backed by the police union, landlord lobby, and real estate interests.

She is not a movement progressive like many of our endorsed candidates, but we trust that she will work with us closely and partner to help make Los Angeles a fair, flourishing place for everyone, unlike her opponent who would consolidate a growing conservative presence on council.

For all these reasons and more, LA Forward endorses Barri Worth Girvan and encourages West Valley residents to vote for her!🗳️

The aging infrastructure of Los Angeles has been subject to neglect, inefficient funding, poor planning, and a lack of leadership, straining the city’s ability to address the needs of nearly 4 million residents across 460 square miles. To equitably invest in all Angelenos across the City, Los Angeles needs a comprehensive, multi-year Capital Investment Program (CIP) that puts equity needs first and the City needs to properly fund our infrastructure needs.

Here is how you can take action:

This week, LA Forward community members in Torrance — a collective of renters, homeowners, and mobile home residents — capped off *25* conversations with various housing organizations and officials by meeting with their newly-elected Mayor, Sharon Kalani. We discussed the need for funding to support new housing in the city, and walked away wanting to bring together groups and leaders working on housing solutions in the South Bay.

Our members consider this the first of many meetings to come as we build a pathway toward making sure Torrance and other South Bay Cities are sustainable places for all families to live and work.

Are you sick and tired of potholes?! 🕳️ Cracked sidewalks, broken street lamps, and dirty parks plague Los Angeles. ➡️Come to our teach-in on Monday to learn how you can be part of the solution.

Most major cities have a regularly updated Capital Investment Program (CIP) that identifies all of the city’s infrastructure needs, maintenance schedules and plans for new projects. LA City historically hasn’t had one — but the Public Works Committee will soon deliberate on a set of recommendations to craft a comprehensive, citywide CIP. We have thoughts! Join us to learn about the proposed CIP and how we can take action to make it work for all Angelenos.

☕️ First, we’re gathering at the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Rec Center at 9am for coffee and conversation. Meet your neighbors and learn about ways to get involved this election season and beyond.

👟Then at 10am we’re hitting the road to knock doors for Nithya Raman! We’ll train you on the spot — no experience needed, just bring comfortable shoes. To keep us cool, we’ll have water, shade, and breaks throughout the morning.

🪧 We’ll also have Nithya Raman yard signs for pickup!

Ever heard that third time’s the charm? Well, join us for a charming morning at our third Westside Regional Meeting! ☀️This Saturday, 10am-12pm at Palms Park, at the tables under the shade!🌳

There has been so much movement on so many different fronts since we last gathered. Our Westside community members have been hard at work—organizing for Marissa Roy’s campaign, lending our social media and marketing muscles to local organizations across the Westside, building new partnerships, and finding more ways for our growing Westside community to show up for one another. We’re excited to share some updates, hear what everyone else has been up to, and get your feedback on where we go from here. Returning folks and first timers are welcome!

➡️We’ll also be digging into LA County’s newest and most powerful elected seat, LA County CEO — a position voters approved through Measure G in 2024.
