Strong partnerships make for a stronger response.

This week, UCPD joined our LAPD partners for a regional public safety exercise on our UCLA campus, working side by side through complex scenarios designed to strengthen coordination across agencies.

Exercises like this are an important opportunity to build familiarity, test how we operate together and reinforce the relationships that matter during a critical incident.

We’re grateful to the Los Angeles Police Department for its continued partnership and collaboration in helping keep UCLA and our surrounding communities safe.

Happy National Dog Day from some of UCPD’s hardest-working four-legged team members!

Josie, Nova, and Rocket each bring their own skills, personality and plenty of tail wags to the UCLA community. Whether supporting our community or working alongside their handlers to help keep campus safe, we’re lucky to have them on the team.

UCLA will participate in a coordinated regional public safety training exercise taking place across Southern California on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

As part of the exercise, training activity will take place near Hedrick Court and Parking Lot 11 from 6 a.m.–2 p.m. Community members may see an increased law enforcement presence, emergency vehicles and helicopter activity, and may hear simulated gunfire.

This is a planned exercise only. There is no threat to campus, and no action is required.

Signage and public safety personnel will be in the area to help identify the activity as training. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as UCLA takes part in this important regional preparedness exercise

Preparedness starts with training.

This week, UCPD officers completed a weeklong active assailant response training on campus, working through realistic scenarios designed to strengthen decision-making, coordination and response during a critical incident.

Training and preparedness are paramount to keeping our community safe. Exercises like these give our officers the opportunity to sharpen their skills, test their response and ensure they are ready to act when it matters most.

Welcome to the Bruin community, Josie! 🐾💙💛

Josie is UCLA PD’s first Support K9 and the newest member of our PAWS Program , Promoting Awareness, Wellness & Safety. This 2½-year-old yellow Lab will help provide comfort, promote wellness and build positive connections across campus.

Josie will always be accompanied by her handler, Public Safety Aide Jessica Saenz. When you see Josie and PSA Saenz around campus, feel free to stop and say “Hello!” 👋 ( Josie also loves belly rubs 😊)
