A Place Called Home APCH provides a safe, nurturing environment with proven programs in the arts, education and wellness.

At A Place Called Home, caring staff, supporters and volunteers come together to provide South Central children and teens 8 years old – 24 years old with love, safety, enrichment, training, and opportunities through educational programs, counseling, and mentorship. After-school, weekend, and all-day summer programs and services include tutoring and homework support, as well as a full spectrum of i

nstruction in the arts, athletics, dance and music. Our high school dropout recovery partnership with LAUSD is open in the mornings and we provide year-round support for college preparation, SAT tutoring, and college counseling and scholarships. In 2012 we provided support for 68 first-generation college students in local schools and across the country. Whatever your age, when you join APCH, you bring amazing skills and abilities that may not be fully realized yet. Our smart, caring staff provides individualized attention to every member of our community, through which youth discover their interests, their talents – and their capabilities. For over two decades, Herbalife has been a dedicated corporate partner of ours, helping us create opportunities for young people in South LA through education, the arts, sports, and health & wellness initiatives.

Do you have a story to tell? Submissions are NOW OPEN for the 11th Annual Moondance Youth Film Festival!

Young filmmakers ages 8–22 across LA County are invited to submit their short films and animations (12 minutes or under) for a chance to see their work on the big screen at A Place Called Home’s Bridge Theater on October 2!

Selected filmmakers will receive:
✨ An on-stage introduction + live Q&A
✨ Access to our exclusive green room
✨ Reserved parking & step-and-repeat photo opportunities

We are thrilled to announce Gitta Ryle as one of our honorees at our upcoming Homecoming Gala.

Gitta is a Holocaust survivor, educator, and storyteller and we will be honoring her legacy and the impact she has made on our young people. She has shared her life story, invested in our youth’s futures, and continues to give generously to support our work.

As the number of living Holocaust survivors dwindle, we want to share and preserve Gitta’s personal story of survival through one of history’s darkest chapters.

Please join us on Thursday, October 29 at SoFi Stadium to celebrate and hear from Gitta while raising critical support for the young people of South Los Angeles.

Back-to-school is about more than a new backpack. We believe it’s about making sure young people and families have the support they need to start the year strong. 🎒📚

We brought together dozens of community-based organizations and partners for our Back-to-School event, connecting South LA families with resources, information, and plenty of free goodies in addition to backpacks and school supplies.

When a community comes together, young people don’t just go back to school. They go back knowing they have an entire community rooting for them.

Thank you to every organization, partner, volunteer, and community member who made the day possible!

This summer, two of our young musicians, Angel and Zee, took their talents to the Berklee College of Music for their five-week intensive, Aspire program. They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in jazz ensembles with a community of other young artists from across the globe. 🎷🎶🌎

At the finale, both youth performed in jazz ensembles with Angel earning an additional spot on the stage at the Berklee Performance Center.

From South LA to one of the world’s most prestigious music schools, this is what can happen when talented youth have opportunities.✨
