What does 13 years of showing up look like? It looks like Wendy.

For 13 years, Wendy has shared her time, kindness and heart with The Midnight Mission community, building lasting friendships along the way. Today, she also carries with her the memories of beloved team members Richard and James, whose impact continues to be felt at The Midnight Mission.

Thank you, Wendy, for reminding us what it means to serve with love.

A sense of purpose. Pride in himself. A new life ahead.

Merlin credits The Midnight Mission with giving him the opportunity and support to change his life. Today, he is working as a security guard and moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose.

“The Midnight Mission gave me a sense of purpose and a sense of pride in myself to go on and live a new life.”

One decision changed the direction of D’Angelo Easterling’s life. He asked for help.

Six years ago, D’Angelo was struggling with addiction and wasn’t sure he would ever find his way out. He had lost a lot along the way, including, as he says, himself.

“I reached a point where I knew I needed help. I went to The Midnight Mission, and that decision changed my life.”

Through classes, case managers and people who believed in him, D’Angelo slowly began to see himself differently. He started learning, listening and taking responsibility for his future.

After a lot of hard work, he earned his GED. From there, he kept going, earning his high school diploma and eventually deciding to pursue a career in plumbing. Today, he’s attending plumbing school and working toward a future he once never thought was possible.

“My journey hasn’t been easy, and I’ve made plenty of mistakes. But I’ve learned that your past does not have to determine your future.”

This National Recovery Month, D’Angelo’s story reminds us of the power of taking that first step and what can become possible when someone has support, opportunity and people who believe in them.

If you or someone you love is ready to take that first step, The Midnight Mission is here. Learn more at midnightmission.org.

Your experience can help change the course of a woman’s life.

The Midnight Mission is hiring a Women’s Program Recovery Lead Case Manager to help women move forward in recovery while supporting and mentoring the case managers who walk alongside them.

We’re looking for an experienced leader who understands addiction recovery, trauma informed care and the power of meeting people with dignity, compassion and respect.

This is more than a job. It’s an opportunity to use your experience, leadership and compassion to help create a place where women can heal, rebuild and discover what’s possible for their lives.

We are incredibly grateful to The Art of Elysium for showing up week after week and creating a space where our community can connect, create and experience the power of art together.

Art can be so much more than a creative outlet. It can offer a moment of peace in the midst of uncertainty, provide a way to express what may be difficult to put into words, and create opportunities to rediscover confidence, identity and joy.

Thank you to The Art of Elysium and the incredible artists who share their time, talents and creativity with our community every Tuesday. Your consistency matters. Your presence matters. And the connections you create matter.

This is what community looks like. The Art of Elysium

When the world outside feels chaotic, music has a way of creating a pocket of love.

While the streets of Skid Row were filled with uncertainty, inside The Midnight Mission, The Nextdoors brought our community together in a way only music can. Pasadena based husband and wife duo Mika Larson and Russell Mark filled the room with Americana, folk and acoustic rock, creating a space for connection, joy and belonging.

Through their growing collaboration with our friends at Street Symphony, The Nextdoors are using their music for something bigger, building community and reminding us of the power of simply being together.

We are so grateful to Mika and Russell for sharing their incredible talent and hearts with our community. For a little while, everything outside faded away, and what remained was music, love and connection. @[107890192319381:274:] The Nextdoors
