Asian American Professional Association - AAPA

Asian American Professional Association - AAPA The Asian American Professional Association seeks to inspire, develop, and promote Asian American Professionals to maximize their leadership potential.

Asian American Professional Association (AAPA) is a non-profit community service organization dedicated in advancing Asian American professionals to become leaders in Corporate America. This volunteer organization of Asian American executives and educators who share the AAPA vision and are committed to inspire, develop and promote Asian Americans to achieve maximum career and professional leadersh

ip potential. AAPA has provided a multi-tier and year-long leadership development and mentoring program in Southern California since 1999. Asian Americans have achieved great academic success and early job advancement, yet Asian Pacific Islanders in the executive rank are significantly below equitable representation. There is a major achievement gap between Asian Americans’ academic achievement and extensive work experience, when compared to the low numbers of Asian Americans in higher status leadership positions. Corporations can benefit from better understanding of this career gap within their Asian American workforce and to tap into this underutilized leadership talent pool.

One of AAPA's board interns, Jomarie Manansala, is working on recording a new BoardTalks podcast. She has come up with the following topics:
1/From passion to policy: How boards shape mission-driven work (highlight how strategic decisions at the board level impact real-world programs)
2/Nonprofit bylaws: Best practices and mistakes to avoid (have guest share experience regarding bylaws)
3/Behind the boardroom: What nonprofit boards really do (have guest share experience about board dynamics)
4/Voices of leadership: Interviews with board members (Focus on one non-profit organization and the various board members share experience about leadership journey; ask about challenges, lessons learned, and advice for aspiring leaders)

If you are interested or know of individuals who are interested in discussing the above topics, please reach out to Jomarie ([email protected]).
