Founded more than 40 years ago by Congressmen Henry Waxman and Howard Berman and former City Controller Rick Tuttle and others, Los Angeles County Young Democrats is the largest organization in California focused on giving young people a voice and a vehicle for activism in Democratic politics. With more than 1,400 members and

supporters, LACYD has helped dozens of local, state, and federal candidates into office – many of them Young Democrats themselves. They remain at the forefront of the work to keep Young Democrats engaged, informed, and heard on issues of importance to young people.

Helping one another is what it means to be an Angeleno. As wildfires devastate our communities, we stand united in supporting survivors, assisting first responders, and ensuring relief efforts are swift and effective.

Natural disasters aren't political, but the response to them can mean the difference between leaving people behind or lifting them up. We won't let false narratives derail the urgent work of saving lives and building resilience.

To our firefighters, first responders, elected officials, and community leaders: Los Angeles owes you endless gratitude. Thank you for showing us the power of solidarity.
