Meet Luis Vega, owner of City of Angels Tattoo

Luis Vega learned his craft at various tattoo parlors before opening City of Angels Tattoo Shop in 2000 on Cesar Chavez in Boyle Heights. From the start, he focused on creating tattoos that connect clients to their heritage and personal stories, quickly making the shop a trusted spot in the community.

In 2019, the shop gained national attention when Cardi B visited for a bottom lip piercing, sparking even more interest in tattoos and piercings. Today, the shop stands as a vibrant hub where art, heritage, and community come together.

Over the years, the shop has become known for its cultural tattoos and welcoming atmosphere. Luis has mentored apprentices from the neighborhood, sharing his skills and helping the next generation of artists get started in the trade.

Meet Leslie Tanaka Augosto, owner of Olive It

Founded in 1995, Olive It began its journey by joining nearby Farmer's Markets to sell olives. Aki Tanaka and his daughter Leslie Tanaka Augosto created a variety of olives not typically found in mainstream markets, which gained them loyal fans.

They wanted a permanent location for their customers to easily find them, which led them to their current space in Westchester. This allowed them to expand their menu to include healthy salads, delicious sandwiches, and, of course, more olives!

At Olive It, their customers can expect to be greeted by warm and friendly faces. Their salads are all made fresh daily and they use quality meats and ingredients on their sandwiches. They also offer catering services for those who want to order a large number of our foods. And remember here at Olive It, you'll never forget to say I love it!

Meet Jeffrey Mantor, owner of Larry Edmunds Bookshop

Larry Edmunds Bookshop was established in 1938 by Larry Edmunds and Milton Luboviski. Following Larry's passing, Luboviski retained the shop's name and, alongside his wife, Git, transformed it in the early 1960s into a specialty business catering to fans, collectors, and professionals in the film and television industry.

The business remained in the family until 2007 when long-time employee Jeffrey Mantor took over as owner. The bookshop continues to serve the film and television industry, offering generations of film lovers, collectors, and industry professionals a one-of-a-kind destination for books, scripts, photos, posters, and memorabilia.

Beyond its shelves, Larry Edmunds Bookshop has long served as a living part of the film and television community. Authors, filmmakers, and historians frequently collaborate with the shop for events, signings, and presentations. Its decades of dedication have helped preserve and celebrate the legacy of cinema, making it a vital resource for those studying, creating, or simply enjoying film.
