FROM THE DESK OF LANELL LOVINGTON-WILLIAMS
What an exciting time we are in! Before I get into why I really am posting here, can I give you a sneak peak at just one bit of exciting news? INRoads will be offering qualified students the opportunity to participate in an INRoads Vision Exchange, where students from U.S. based INRoads schools will visit the island of Aruba as exchange students for a summer marine biology institute, while Aruban students will participate in a Colorado-based Equestrian program!!
I couldn’t help saying that first. There is so much more to come, and in a few days we’ll be hosting an online live session to provide more insight on the happenings at INRoads.
Now on to regularly scheduled programming…as promised, an update on The INRoads School.
Last month I mentioned how as part of INRoads’ design, it would be primarily funded by its financial interests in other for-profit businesses. Over my 22-year career in business, I’ve had the tremendous fortune of helping start hundreds of businesses, of which I have the blessing of having worked with or partnered with some of you in.
Once INRoads high school aged students are age and prerequisite eligible, they will participate in an INRoads Active Career Track, which helps them intern / work in industries they may have interest in. Internships will be paid, and funds may be collected by students on a pay period basis, or defer their pay and use for INRoads recreational activities, post-secondary school. Most people at one time or another have dreams of being involved with more than one career interest, hobby, jobs after the first retirement, second retirement (and for some of you, third and fourth retirements lol). Our students can have hands on experience in industries they may have interests in – learning early what paths they may like to pursue as they mature. Imagine becoming an adult, living with not only a deep sense of purpose, but also with a clear picture of why you are choosing the journey you take! That sounds iideal to me. What do you think?
Many of the businesses I’ve helped start over the years and others that some of you have graciously shared by gifting stock are now co-owned by The INRoads Endowment. As part of my own pledge, I do not take a salary from INRoads (and never plan to); beginning in 2022, every business I’m directly involved with will be partially owned by INRoads.
Not only does this provide an accelerated path of hands-on career learning for our students, but also an immediate and perpetual income source for our school system.
Each week, I’ll introduce a business that is part of or benefits The INRoads Endowment. This week, it’s one of the companies I have the most fun in, enventiv digital experience group. Some of you are clients of enventiv already, but may know it by its old name, Exceed Creations USA. As Exceed has grown, it has become an international powerhouse of innovation not only in basic web, software development and technologies, but next year will be entering the worlds of hardware, robotics, AI, and other amazing emerging tech. The team is comprised of the greatest minds in technology and brand development - I am truly grateful for the enventiv team.
All of the images you see of INRoads and other upcoming announcements have been designed by enventiv.
The company is hosting a limited time Winter Sale specifically to benefit INRoads, and I’d be truly honored to have your support by purchasing a package that can be used now, or later. Although enventiv is a full-service brand house, it is only offering a limited run of services for this promotion: Video editing (good for those social media posts), logo design, social media services, website design, and ecommerce services).
Reserve your order here: www.enventiv.net
Some of you may wish to support INRoads through a generous tax-deductible gift of any amount, which is truly appreciated. While INRoads completes fulfilling its legal requirements as a Non-Profit, 501(c)(3) Corporation, it is being fiscally sponsored by ATHGO Corporation. Contributions made to ATHGO for INRoads are tax-deductible, and your tax professional can include this donation as part of your 2021 deductions (if made by 12/31/21). Contributions can be made by following this link:
http://athgo.org/donate/
In keeping up with the times, if you’d like to make contributions using an app-based system, you can contribute via $MRLANELL on Cashapp, or on Venmo. However, these types of contributions are not immediately tax-deductible. We must wait until we receive a 1099-K from the payment portals, which then goes through a process with ATHGO. Once your contribution is legally tax-deductible, you will receive a contribution letter (if you desire).
As part of our transparency process, within the next two weeks INRoads is developing a site that shows you categorically where each dollar and cent of income INRoads receives is used, and in just a few days, you’ll be able to see the INRoads Student Portal…it’s amazing and intuitive. During this round of income, our focus is on finalizing the INRoads’ web and technology projects, committee development, curriculum development / resource acquisition, final legal requirements and preparation for and recruitment of our founding staff.
The unveiling of INRoads is happening at a pace I could only dream of. This is because of the tremendous outpouring of support from many of you. I’m SO grateful.
If you don’t mind yet another person asking you to share a post, I’d be honored if you share this one – too.
