Building healthier communities, one connection at a time!

We were proud to support a free community health screening event at the Watts Labor Community Action Center, helping connect Angelenos with important health resources and services.

The event offered free kidney health screenings, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, flu shots, food distribution, and featured a nutrition demo by CID staff—all aimed at promoting wellness, prevention, and healthier lives.

Thank you to Labor Community Action, Davita, and our community partners for coming together to make these essential services more accessible to our communities.

That’s a wrap on Seniorcize 2026! 🏀💜💛

Over the course of the season, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Community Investment Department visited nine senior and multipurpose centers across Los Angeles, bringing older adults together for movement, connection, and plenty of Sparks spirit!

Thank you to our participating sites and everyone who helped make this season special. We’re proud to support programs that promote healthy aging, active living, and meaningful connections in our communities.

We dressed up. We danced. We celebrated!

CID was excited to join Mayor Karen Bass, Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez, and the Department of Recreation and Parks for the Senior Masquerade Ball, celebrating the wonderful older adults of Council District 13!

It’s always a special occasion when we can come together, share some joy, and celebrate the communities we are proud to serve.

CID joined City, County and community partners for a resource fair to support Progressive Home for the Elderly following the recent tragedy at the South Los Angeles facility.

The event brought essential resources and supportive services, including counseling and connections to additional assistance, directly to residents and staff impacted.

We thank our partners for coming together to support the well-being and recovery of our older adults and the dedicated staff who care for them.

We recently joined Trinity Baptist Church for its Block Party and Health Fair, helping raise awareness about health needs and connecting Angelenos with valuable health and community resources.

Events like these bring neighbors together and make it easier for people to find the information, services and support they need to thrive. Thank you to Trinity Baptist Church and all of the community partners who helped make the day a success!

Medicare Open Enrollment is here!

The Center for Health Care Rights is providing free, unbiased, one-on-one Medicare counseling through the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP).

Join on Friday, October 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to review your current Medicare coverage, compare health and prescription drug plan options, understand upcoming changes, and get your questions answered by a state-registered HICAP counselor.
