cradling them between teeth built for tearing flesh.

She knows exactly how hard is too hard.

Yes.
And it’s one of the most unsettling things nature has ever produced.
This fish isn’t injured.
It’s inhabited.

The creature inside its mouth is called the tongue-eating louse. It enters through the gills, crawls into the mouth, and attaches to the tongue. Slowly, it cuts off the blood supply until the tongue withers and falls away.

Then the parasite does something no other known organism can do.
It takes the tongue’s place.

Anchored to the remaining tissue, the louse becomes a working substitute. The fish continues to eat. The parasite feeds on mucus and scraps. Life goes on as if nothing happened.

This is not symbolism.

Not exaggeration.

Scientists recently discovered something even stranger. When glass frogs sleep, they hide most of their red blood cells in the liver. This reduces visibility of blood vessels, making the body even clearer. A living animal temporarily turning itself almost invisible.

No armor.
No speed.
Just biology refined to the extreme.

What you are seeing is not fragility.
