🇪🇺 Team Europe in Los Angeles came together once again to reinforce dialogue, coordination, and partnership across our consular community, the 3rd largest in the world 🌎 💪

We were pleased to host the EU HOMs meeting in Los Angeles, organized by the Consul General of Croatia, Renee Pea, who also serves as Dean of the Los Angeles Consular Corps, and representing the current Cyprus EU Presidency.

It was a productive and engaging discussion, enriched by the presence of a special guest, former Governor of California, Gray Davis, who shared his insights on the outlook for upcoming California state elections, as well as broader political and policy dynamics shaping the state.

It was a pleasure to attend the 6th Annual Culinary Cup, hosted this year at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC), celebrating the rich flavors and traditions of Sicily through extraordinary culinary talent and creativity.

Students from Los Angeles Mission College, Los Angeles Harbor College, and Los Angeles Trade-Technical College competed in this year’s exciting edition, showcasing remarkable skills, passion, and innovation in the kitchen.

From delicious dishes to inspiring exchanges, the event beautifully highlighted the importance of culinary education and cultural connections between Italy and Los Angeles.

Consul Lorenza Errighi delivered opening remarks, while Commercial Attaché Yvette Belardo joined the jury alongside legendary restaurateur Piero Selvaggio, Chef Celestino Drago, and Alessandra Malanga, Head of the Los Angeles Delegation of Accademia Italiana della Cucina.

A special touch of Sicily arrived through the beautiful traditional music performance by Michela Musolino. 🎶🇮🇹

Thank you to all the LATTC faculty and staff, including President Dr. Alfred McQuarters, for organizing such a meaningful initiative and for choosing to celebrate and promote Italian cuisine, culture, and culinary excellence through this inspiring competition.

One week has passed since the first mission of Ambassador Peronaci in Los Angeles, and we still look back on it with great satisfaction. 🇮🇹✨

It was an important moment for our team, for the entire Sistema Italia network in Los Angeles and for the Italian and Italian-American community, which had the opportunity to meet the Ambassador and engage in meaningful dialogue. From science to culture, from institutions to economic diplomacy, the visit highlighted the strength of coordinated teamwork and shared vision.

Over the course of these intense and inspiring days in Los Angeles, the mission included meetings with leading institutions such as California Institute of Technology and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a visit at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, encounters with the academic and creative community at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, institutional exchanges at City Hall with local authorities and moments with the Italian-American community, as well as a special evening dedicated to strengthening economic ties at the Bulgari terrace in collaboration with the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce West and the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.

A week later, the enthusiasm and momentum generated by this mission continue. We are already looking forward to building new projects and future collaborations together. 🌍🤝 Grazie Ambasciatore !

Happy Europe Day 🇪🇺

The Los Angeles City Council marked Europe Day with an official resolution, honoring the enduring partnership and shared values between Europe and Los Angeles.

A beautiful celebration at City Hall alongside the EU Consular Corps, recognizing this special occasion and the importance of transatlantic friendship.

Grateful to Councilmember McOsker and to the Dean of the Consular Corps and Acting EU Presidency on behalf of Cyprus, Consul General of Croatia Renee Pea, for bringing everyone together in such a meaningful moment of unity, dialogue, and cooperation 🌍✨

I concluded yesterday my official visit to California with Italian American Museum of Los Angeles and a tour of Piazza Miramare in San Pedro, two great examples of the impact that our marvelous Italian American community has on this city and across the country.

For Italy, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures feels home.
Its magnificent architecture by Renzo Piano (Renzo Piano Building Workshop), a partnership with Cinecittà, a longstanding presence of Italian cinema in the history of the Oscars.
It's about cultural diplomacy, economic impact, the power of creativity and innovation.

A special night in Los Angeles! 🎬

On April 6, the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood hosted the U.S. premiere of “Ag4in”, the documentary dedicated to the journey of Napoli soccer team to its fourth ⚽️🏆league titlle.
The evening was made even more memorable by the presence of Mayor of Los Angeles City, Karen Bass, who bestowed upon President Aurelio De Laurentiis the honorary citizenship award, recognizing his role in promoting cultural and sporting bonds between Italy 🇮🇹and Los Angeles.
Former Councilmember Joe Buscaino presented the documentary and moderated a panel discussion featuring President De Laurentiis and representatives from the local soccer community.

Congratulations to everyone involved for this wonderful initiative that brought a piece of Naples to the heart of Hollywood🎬! 🇮🇹💙

Consul General Valentini’s mission to Arizona, carried out together with the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, Emanuele Amendola, featured a series of institutional, academic, cultural, and community engagements highlighting the strong ties between Italy and the State.

Among the key moments was a visit to MSC Group’s offices in Tempe, responsible for operations across the Western United States. Sincere thanks to Branch Manager Mauro Dal Bo for the warm welcome. MSC represents an important Italian presence in the United States and a leading player in the global logistics sector.

At Arizona State University, the visit included the International Humanities Center and the Italian language program, which counts more than 850 students—the largest Italian program in the United States. The occasion also marked the inauguration of the Pier Raimondo Baldini Italian Library. Special thanks to Prof. Serena Ferrando and all the faculty for their outstanding commitment and for serving as a constant point of reference for the promotion of Italian language and culture.

The program continued with a visit to the Phoenix Art Museum to explore the exhibition dedicated to Florentine Baroque art and to meet with Museum Director Jeremy Mikolajczak and Steve Taddei, President of the Focus on European Art Foundation—further strengthening cultural dialogue and cooperation.

The visit also provided the opportunity to meet representatives of Arizona’s vibrant Italian community, including Roberto Brembilla, founder and shareholder of Il Sogno Toscano, and Andrea Fappani, owner of Fappani Performance Horses 🐴 and one of the most renowned professionals in the equestrian world.

Finally, a special thanks goes to our Honorary Consul in Phoenix, Roberta Gentili Purcell, for all the support provided throughout the visit.
