Booth Memorial Center/Maternity Group Home - Los Angeles

Booth Memorial Center/Maternity Group Home - Los Angeles A home and maternity hospital for u***d pregnant teens in Los Angeles from 1899 to 1993. Was part of the Salvation Army network of Booth homes.

This 17-room house at 2670 Griffin Ave. in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Lincoln Heights was donated to the Salvation Army in 1898 for use as a rescue home for "fallen women." Later known as the Booth Maternity Group Home for U***d Mothers, then as the Booth Memorial Center, it was closed by the Salvation Army at the end of 1993. The Los Angeles Leadership Academy now occupies the site.

LOOKING FOR YOUR BIRTH-MOTHER OR CHILD BORN AT BOOTH CENTER?
LOOK ON THE TIMELINE FOR THE BIRTH DATE, OR ASK TO HAVE THE BIRTH DATE ADDED TO THE TIMELINE.

Many people who were separated by adoption after their Birth Event at Booth L.A. are finding this page. They are posting messages requesting any information anyone might have.

To help make those messages more visible, I will post those Birth Dates on the timeline, along with any message you want to leave there. Just leave the following information as a COMMENT to this post:

1) The date of the birth
2) The Booth Home location (if not Los Angeles)
2) Child - your mother's name if you know it.
3) Mother - Any information, such as the Adoption Agency, dates you were a resident at Booth, or names of other mothers you remember staying here.
3) Any message you want to leave for the person you are seeking. Maybe they will find this page. Maybe they will be too afraid to contact you, at least not right away. But at least they will know what is in your heart.

If you prefer, you can leave a private message for the administrator of this page first.

NOTE: This is not an "official" site or adoption service... and, I discourage anyone from accepting help from someone who asks for $$$!!! I am just a regular Facebook member who created this page after learning about the L.A. Booth Home from my birth-mother, after we were reunited. I visited the home, which is now a charter school, and took pictures to share with my her on this page. But...many other people who are seeking information have discovered the page as well. So I want to make sure their voices have a chance to be heard, and I hope this page can somehow enable actual reunions.

Warm regards,
Curtis
