The Consulate General of the Philippines in Los Angeles was established in 1947. For a brief history of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, please visit www.losangelespcg.org. It serves the consular needs of the largest Filipino community outside the Philippines numbering more than one (1) million. Generally, by law, regulation and treaty, the Consulate serves as an adjunct of the Philippine Government in the overall task of promoting and protecting the national interests of the Philippines and its citizens in the areas/localities under the Consulate’s jurisdiction. Specifically, the Consulate General has the following functions:

- To report on commercial, financial and other economic developments in its jurisdiction;
- To administer in appropriate cases the implementation of Philippine laws and regulations abroad concerning citizenship, immigration, trade, navigation and commerce;
- To perform passport and visa services;
- To assist and protect Filipino nationals, including seamen and other migrant workers;
- To perform registration services including those for births and deaths, solemnize marriages, and conserve estates of deceased nationals;
- To perform notarial and, in proper cases, other legal services;
- To examine and certify invoices and documents covering exports to the Philippines;
- To perform, in appropriate cases, the functions of a diplomatic mission (Embassy).

The one-day exhibit will be held on Friday, 22 May 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Carson Event Center.

Admission and parking are free.

The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles invites you to experience “INabel: Living Threads,” a special traveling exhibition showcasing the heritage textiles of Ilocos Norte.

FREE ADMISSION and PARKING

Inabel is both the handwoven cotton textile of Ilocos and the cherished tradition of weaving it.

The exhibit will be brought to Los Angeles by a Philippine government delegation led by Ilocos Norte Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos, as part of the year-long commemoration of the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the U.S.

Held during Philippine Heritage Month, “INabel: Living Threads” also serves as a celebration of the time-honored artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage of the Filipino people.

The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles joins the nation in celebrating National Heritage Month this May, guided by the theme, "Roots and Horizons: Our Shared Heritage, Our Collective Future."

The theme calls on communities to work together in building for the future, reflecting the importance of shared heritage among diverse communities, and fostering the empowerment of generations of advocates.

Observed every May pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 439, s. 2003, National Heritage Month honors the stories, traditions, and places that shape the Filipino people.

The Board of Library Commissioners approved the dedication of the Echo Park Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library in recognition of Filipino writer, and poet Carlos Bulosan on 9 April 2026.

The approval follows a comprehensive public consultation process, during which the Board received a total of 121 comments, all in support of the dedication. In his endorsement, Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz stated, “Dedicating the Echo Park Branch Library in honor of Carlos Bulosan would be a fitting tribute to his legacy and would affirm Los Angeles’ commitment to celebrating the diversity of its cultural heritage.”
