Veterans desiring to be considered for admission must be residents of California, age 55 or older (or younger if disabled), and have served honorably.

Located in one of California's most popular cities, the Veterans Home of California-West Los Angeles offers affordable long-term care to California's elderly and disabled veterans, including their spouses and domestic partners. Located in one of the most famous counties in the world, the beautiful, new Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles is the largest Veterans Home of California in the

County of Los Angeles. In a region renowned for abundant sunshine and beautiful year-round weather, the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles is just minutes from the scenic Pacific Ocean, historical Downtown Los Angeles, legendary Hollywood and the beautiful San Fernando Valley. Completed in September 2010, the beautiful Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles is located at 11500 Nimitz Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90049 and is a 396-bed, state-of-the-art, long-term healthcare facility for California's Veterans. The Home offers the following levels of excellent healthcare:

An 84-bed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), also known as assisted living, opened in October, 2010
A 252-bed Skilled Nursing Facility is estimated to open in the Fall of 2011
A 60-bed Alzheimer's/dementia, or "Memory Care" unit, is estimated to open following the Skilled Nursing Facility
In close proximity to the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), the Federal Building on famous Wilshire Boulevard, and an extraordinary array of museums, movie theaters, arts and cultural activities, galleries, shopping centers, restaurants, libraries, parks, beaches, family-friendly events and activities for all age groups, the West Los Angeles location offers Veteran residents and their families a wealth of cultural, social and recreational landmarks and opportunities. Adjacent to the Memory Care unit is a beautiful, open-air garden with a cozy seating area where Veteran residents can enjoy being outdoors in a safe and comfortable environment. Our Brush Warriors are well-known for their awesome smiles, kind hearts, and nonstop positivity. We recently got a chance to hang out with a few of them before class, and it was such a boost of energy! A big shoutout to Mayee Salgado Futterman for all the amazing work you do! Our residents have a blast in our art classes, and we love watching them enjoy it too.

Yesterday, the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles held a heartfelt Memorial Day 2026 celebration, featuring the beautiful music of the The Los Angeles Accordionaires "Pops" Orchestra. It was a poignant moment for our community as we came together to honor and remember the courageous servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our cherished values and freedoms. Their bravery will never be forgotten, and our gratitude for their service runs deep.

Yesterday, our community came together to celebrate the lives of six extraordinary individuals: George Stiehl (Navy), Alan Boggs (Marines), John Jeffrey (Army), William Burke (Air Force), John Mancilla (Marines), and Norman Weiner (Coast Guard). These brave men exemplified strength and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that continues to motivate us to grow and improve every day.

During this difficult time, the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles extends its heartfelt condolences to their families and friends. At the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles, we will remember their contributions and honor their spirit by striving to be the best versions of ourselves every day.

Our residents give us so much life. We learn an incredible amount about the world by listening to them tell their stories. When we receive the opportunity to highlight their artistry or the joy they experience during trips to fun places like Universal Studios Hollywood, it truly feels like an honor. We are so proud to capture our community's stories and build on the long legacy of Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles trailblazers who have come before us.

This week has been a fantastic time for our community as we celebrate Nurses Week and Public Service Recognition Week. Nurses Day was on May 6th, and the day before, we had a really great employee recognition ceremony to celebrate our nurses and some awesome team members who put in so much effort to make the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles a wonderful place for our residents. Our Home’s Administrator, Stephanie Weaver, did a fantastic job leading the ceremonies.

Yesterday was a great day for our community! We had a fun barbecue hosted by the DAV California and Dept of CA DAV Auxiliary. These organizations are all about improving the lives of veterans in California, and they really showed their appreciation by treating our residents and staff to some delicious food. Lucky for us, a few of their team members have some serious cooking skills. We are thankful for the way they support our mission!

This spring, we threw a pizza party to celebrate some of our amazing teammates from different departments, including Dental, Dietary, Medical, Social Work, and Warehouse and Stores. These incredible individuals are some of the unsung heroes of our community, and we loved seeing the smiles on their faces as they received a big, heartfelt thank you for all their hard work.

We truly appreciate our team's premier compassion, accountability, respect, and empathy, always. Thank you for all that you do, Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles!
