The Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles knows how to share a good laugh. Here are some photos from last week's comedy show. We were lucky to have a fantastic duo of performers who really knew how to engage our residents, sparking their imaginations and filling the room with joy and creativity. We're letting the good times roll as the summer comes to an end and the grandkids start the school year!

The Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles honors the freedom that brave members of the U.S. Army fought for, allowing every American to begin claiming their share of this precious land of liberty. Happy Juneteenth and Go Army!

Juneteenth is one of the oldest commemorations of the end of slavery in the United States. It marks June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and issued General Order No. 3, enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation at the end of the Civil War.

Within the National Park Service, Juneteenth helps connect this history to places and stories preserved across the National Park System that interpret emancipation, Reconstruction, and the broader struggle for civil rights.
