is a grass-root community based group created and formed by residents of Elysian Valley ( Frogtown )community and surrounding communities residents and stakeholders with great concerns for the Health, Safety and Welfare, Human, Constitutional and Natural Rights of the families living in our neighborhoods. Also for the Preservation, Protection and Responsible and proper care of the LA River Ecos
ystem (Environment and Wildlife, native and non native of the Los Angeles River and surroundings), as well for the Protection and Preservation of Public Assets and Environment. Our goal is to educate and inform our communities, about the many issues related with all this topics, caused and created by Irresponsible Development (Gentrification) as well as for Natural and other factors. We believe that throughout Education and Awareness, we can form (build) a more responsible, strong, respectful, conscious and kind society, with greater chances of a better and a brighter future. FROG’s mission is to educate our community about the benefits and importance of Nature and Wildlife to maintain, preserve and co-exist in harmony within our society's very busy way of life and constant population growth. Also to avoid the potentially and also avoidable Environment, Health, Safety and Welfare unnecessary risks that involves the irresponsible interaction between humans with nature, caused mainly by the irresponsible and out-of-character Over development, “recreational activity programs” along the LA River Flood Control Channel, misinformation, Water, Vector, Health and Safety proper studies being ignored, and lack of proper our reach to our community and real input from and for the community, by Public elected servants/Agencies and private Non-profit Organizations and Businesses. Currently there is a full swing Gentrification going on in the Elysian Valley and many other communities around, hurting thousands of families, destroying entire communities, eradicating cultural and traditional values being the hardworking “poor” Latino community the most affected. Endorsed and promoted by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Developers, supported fully by CD 13 Mitch O'Farrell and almost entirely by City Council members, and some “non-profit” organizations, such as FOLAR ( Friends of the LA River ), LA Mas among others, also by private organizations/ corporations, investors, newly opened businesses, media outlets too, public agencies, and also by a few misinformed residents of the EV area. We are NOT against progress or helping the River, nor we want to stop changes within our beloved community for happening, but we as a community agree that any changes should have a transparent and inclusive process, especially since all the decisions made of to be make involves the Welfare, Health and Safety of thousands of hardworking, tax payers Elysian Valley long-time residents and Angelenos in general too.
“Education and Consciousness can change the world“¬
We strongly believe people need to be educated and also to educate themselves, first about the importance of the LA River Flood Control Channel, Environment, Wildlife and it Ecosystem, and Natural Resources, and then about how the properly and responsible approach to it without risking our health and safety and the welfare and tranquility of it Ecosystem. It’s imperative we all learn about how important are the creatures living there, not only to the Los Angeles City population but to the whole world; it is extremely important for us, the entire population of Los Angeles CA to keep it clean, healthy and undisturbed to properly and responsibly use its natural resources. We all would like to enjoy and admire it’s beauty now, but also our grandchildren, great-grandchildren and future generations be able to enjoy it too, so let’s do what is right to inherit not only a clean and full of life beautiful river but also a better world and humanity, whatever decision we make today will definitely affect and impact future generations for sure, it depends entirely on us if that impact and effect will be a good and positive one or a negative that will create a hazardous and dangerous world for our children and future generations.
