As an independent nonprofit public benefit corporation, the AMAAD (Arming Minorities Against Addiction & Disease) Institute is an advocate for community-based health and wellness services that support the prevention and treatment of substance use disorder and various physical and mental health co-factors that are exacerbated by alcohol and drug use. Our working model is that of a resource and refe

rral organization dedicated to empowering individuals on a personalized case-by-case basis to access appropriate prevention, screening, and treatment alternatives. Our strengthens-based approach is informed by the belief that people in the entire community benefit when individuals within it have access to supportive services that help them to manage their lives in a manner that embraces their self-defined ethnic identification, sexual-orientation, and/or gender-expression.
