EVs are ready to drive the future.

🔄 Looking for a used car? With an expected 300,000 lease returns expected to hit the market, this is a great year to get an EV.

đź’° Why? At $4 per gallon, total cost of EV ownership becomes lower than for gas-powered cars. Could this be the tipping point for car owners?

⚡In related news, China’s BYD just announced they will soon deliver a 70% charge that lasts over 500 miles in five minutes. That’s nearly at the EV holy grail: Charging up in the time it would take to fill a gas tank.

Everyone is talking about these books. Take one to a coffee shop and someone will strike up a conversation. So, what did you read first — and which is your favorite? For me, they fit together like puzzle pieces. There is so much to explore, from love and grief to craft and empowerment, all playing out over decades that I so vividly remember.

And feminism! Like this zinger: “Nearly every guy I’ve dated believed they should already be famous, believed that greatness was their destiny and they were already behind schedule…it’s how boys are raised to think, how they are lured into adulthood. I’ve met ambitious women, driven women, but no woman has ever told me that greatness was her destiny.”

Maybe now that’s changing — hopefully in the direction of equitable aspiration and acknowledgment of the privilege that typically backbones it. I’d love to learn what thinks of that!

But back to this , I cried when I turned the last page of one, and didn’t know what I was missing until I finished the other. You? (P.S. Bring it to SMSBC and let’s discuss!)

Happy ! Have you read month’s Good Newsletter yet? It goes deep on fashion’s resource reset. Like:

đź’§ Manufacturing is turning off the tap to minimize water consumption.

🍌 A start-up that makes textile fibers from agricultural waste like h**p, flax, and banana is now ready to scale production.

🤔 Could brands that prioritize more sustainable materials leverage an on-demand manufacturing system (designed by a company that doesn’t) in order to reduce waste and deliver on social and environmental goals? There are a lot of ifs in that sentence. But with news that Shein is open sourcing its global logistics network, something to think about.

Yesterday, I opened an email from announcing the winners of . I applied for back in March in hopes of winning a developmental edit on my time-travel novel, which has hit a revision brick wall.

Honestly, all three of my completed novels have hit the same wall. Splat. And the fourth is not going well — I’ve never before felt this level of writer’s block. I’m chipping away but it’s like attacking granite with a plastic spoon.

So when I saw the email, I kind of eeyored my way down the list of winners. And then, gentle reader, I SAW MY NAME.

Not only did I win, I was matched with my absolute first choice editor, ! I love that Hanna writes both fiction and nonfiction, as well as YA, which I’m contemplating. She already gave notes on my submission that are tough and true — exactly what I’m looking for in the way of feedback.

Congratulations to all the other winners and runners-up — let’s connect, if we haven’t already. We need a big chorus to make sure our internal yes drowns out the external no. Onward!
