Hollywood American Legion Post 43 hosted a wonderful Family Fun Day centered on our youngest neighbors—filled with bounce houses, youth band performances, food, and lots of fun. It was great seeing families come together and connect, and HHWNC enjoyed welcoming neighbors as they stopped by to say hello.

Hollywood Hills neighbors gathered for a fascinating behind-the-scenes tour of the Hollywood American Legion Post 43 with John, a volunteer docent and proud son of a WWII veteran. His personal stories brought the historic space to life, from its grand theater to its hidden corners. Three bands performed lively “Jamboree” music, and many attendees dressed in period clothing and danced to the classic songs. In the parking lot, rows of vintage cars were on display. The whole event felt like stepping back into the 1940s.

Grateful for such a meaningful glimpse into Hollywood and our veterans’ history. 🇺🇸

Hollywood Hills neighbors visited the Wallis House and toured the 36-bed transitional housing facility for women and children. Later, a big group of Santa’s helpers and elves gathered to wrap gifts with love, laughter, and care—turning simple packages into moments of joy. Thanks to our wonderful community helpers and elves, these gifts will brighten the holidays for the children and families of Aviva Family & Children’s Services, reminding us that the true spirit of Christmas is found in kindness shared. 🎄✨

What a wonderful way to start the holiday season!
Our Hollywood Hills neighbors shared a magical afternoon at the world-famous Magic Castle, where we were treated to an unforgettable performance by celebrated magician Joel Ward. His show dazzled from beginning to end — full of high-energy illusions, clever humor, and unbelievable sleight-of-hand that left everyone smiling and astonished.

Beyond the magic, it was heartwarming to see so many neighbors come together to experience one of Los Angeles’ most iconic historic and architectural gems. From hidden doorways to old-Hollywood charm, the Magic Castle was the perfect setting for connection, laughter, and a little holiday sparkle.

Here’s to more memorable neighborhood outings in the new year! ✨

🔥 Did you know the insurance industry is quietly rewriting California’s wildfire rules — starting in your own backyard?

A new CityWatch LA piece reveals how insurers helped shape the state’s “historic compromise” on wildfire-risk homes — and it’s not great news for homeowners.

🏡 Tougher vegetation rules (“Zone 0”) are shifting responsibility from insurers to residents.
💸 Premiums are soaring, coverage is shrinking, and many are being pushed into last-resort insurance plans.
⚖️ Experts call it regulatory capture — when an industry writes its own rules.

If you live in a wildfire-prone area, ask yourself: Who’s really protecting us — the state, the insurers, or ourselves?

💬 Join our Neighborhood Council meeting on Nov 19 to learn more and discuss what this means for our community. (Meeting link coming soon.)
