Downtown Women's Action Coalition Skid Row From A Woman’s Perspective are my personal views according to my lived perspective.

The vision for DWAC is to establish a collective voice that communicates the strength and power of women in our community that goes beyond service--one that values women, promotes women's rights, acknowledges and supports women's experiences, includes diverse female leaders, and promotes adequate housing within the community.

As a Black woman, speaking truth to power…

against ABUSE of power…

can come with a LOT:

the racial gaslighting, retaliation, institutional betrayal, misogynoir and many more consequences.

I have experienced this myself.

Having successfully spoken truth to power myself in the workplace, and providing mental health support to many Black women who are navigating this process…

…I have seen the evident POWER in what these Black women’s voices have to say…

…despite the attempts of inequitable systems doing everything in their power to silence them.

Sending love to the Black women who have spoken out against inequitable treatment at work - never forget that the response to the ‘alarms’ that you have sounded is due to the power of your sound.🤎
