A new Government Accountability Office study examined 11 states representing about one-fifth of the U.S. population and counted workers at large employers who received Medicaid or SNAP food assistance.

Walmart ranked among the top employers in every state examined. The study put Walmart first and Amazon second overall. Walmart had 16,055 workers on Medicaid and 15,515 receiving SNAP. Amazon had 11,338 workers on Medicaid and 12,346 on SNAP. Both numbers were nearly three times their 2020 levels. Corporate profits rose sharply over the same period.

“They stole us! They sold us! They owe us!” The chant carried through Fulton Park in the Bedford-Stuyvesant community of Brooklyn, New York, on Aug. 29, as 200 people came to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the World Conference Against Racism.

Karl Marx wrote, “Capital comes dripping from head to foot, from every pore, with blood and dirt.” The African Holocaust has never stopped.

U.S. Central Command said its targets were air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites.

Put the two lists next to each other. A fishmeal plant becomes a maritime facility. A fishing pier becomes a maritime asset. A harbor tower becomes a communications site. The wedding disappears from the list altogether.

The solution to the violent Pig problem is not reform. It is not committees set up to investigate claims and ultimately either let the case be forgotten or side with the oppressors. The solution is the destruction of the Baltimore Pig Department and the jailing of all killer Pigs. The solution is the proper disposal of capitalism into the dumpster of history. The solution is revolution!

Yugoslavia’s breakup was not the spontaneous return of “ancient ethnic hatreds.” Western economic pressure and political intervention sharpened national antagonisms and backed separatist and right-wing nationalist forces.

These cases, along with the many lynchings of Black bodies, are not random. They are not outliers. These cases are part of a larger web of violence that surrounds the Black community, a web that is put up, maintained and reinforced by the racist, white supremacist heart of this country. This web of violence is enforced by more than just death and physical violence.

An estimated 80% to 90% of fresh produce in the U.S. now reaches the market through a handful of grower-shipper-packers like Taylor Farms. Growers who once sold to many competing buyers now face a few, and take the price they are offered. Small and mid-sized produce farms have been disappearing for decades.

That is the structure that carried lettuce implicated in the outbreak through one corporate supply chain to Taco Bell counters, Walmart shelves, Subway and Jack in the Box inside a few weeks in June. Because Taylor Farms supplies so many stores and restaurants from the same processing network, a failure at one point can expose people across the country before anyone knows there is a problem.

THREE YEARS OF GENOCIDE. MARCH FOR PALESTINE.

On October 10, we take the streets to mark three years since Israel’s genocide on Gaza began.

Our demand is clear: a full two-way arms embargo and sanctions on Israel. The masses of the world stand with Gaza, and we are not going anywhere.

Our people in Gaza have endured over 1,000 days of bombing, starvation, and occupation. We owe them our presence. As imperialist powers attempt to steer the political future of Gaza, we must confront and oppose their efforts to liquidate the Palestinian struggle. We must hold the governments of the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Arab states fully accountable for continuing to enable and fund the genocide.

This is a day to reenergize our movement and renew our undying commitment to Palestine and its people. The genocide must end. Until Gaza’s soil and sky are no longer occupied, until the blockade is lifted, and until every criminal with our people’s blood on their hands is brought to justice, we will not rest.

Join the international day of action. Stay tuned for October 10 actions in your city.

END THE GENOCIDE. MARCH FOR THE LIVING, FOR OUR MARTYRS, AND FOR PALESTINE.
