Thursday night we showed up in Mid-City!

Big love to everyone who joined us at for a packed and joyful happy hour. The room was warm, the drinks were steady, and the conversations? Even better.

Thank you to , , the , and our amazing BPLA members for building community in real time. This is what it looks like when Black planners connect across sectors, generations, and neighborhoods.

We plan cities for a living. We build culture on purpose.

More soon. đź–¤

What a day at Taste of Soul! The energy, the stories, the community pride — all of it was electric.

Big love to Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson for sharing booth space, and major thanks to our crew: Kyle, Theo, Terri, Leitha, and Joe for teaming up with Rita Cofield and her squad to bring our Black Urbanist banners and materials to life. Special thanks as well to State Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas for stopping by and for her leadership in establishing L.A.’s Black Cultural District.

We’re so grateful for every BPLA member and friend who came through and engaged with the community: Bengy, Natasha, Yvonne, Ashly, Kinikia, Camille, Adrian, Pamela, Nick, Bryan, Walidah, Umaymah, and Hakeem. Your presence made the day shine even brighter.

Together, we celebrated the past, present, and future of Black Los Angeles, showing that planning is and always has been an act of love for our communities.

We are blessed to have this platform to learn, grow and share, for we are black history

Happy Juneteenth!!! Thank you so much to everyone who showed up yesterday for ! It was such an honor to be recognized by and !

We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Juneteenth than to honor the work of past and present Black urbanists. More than ever, we are committed to continuing our advocacy by organizing and demanding for systemic change and supporting organizations like to increase Black representation in local government and recognize Black excellence.
