From one NBCT to another, I am excited to announce that the National Board and Pearson are opening an in-person scoring site in California in 2024. Teachers who have participated in the scoring process continue to report that it is one of the most valuable professional developments they have engaged in. I also know this from personal experience as I was an assessor and trainer for many years.

Scoring will take place at the Spaces Hollywood coworking space at 1800 Vine Street in Los Angeles, California. Scoring start dates will be June 24th, July 15th, and July 23rd, with duration of scoring windows ranging from three days to three weeks. Certificate areas with Los Angeles scoring opportunities are EAYA Health, ECYA Exceptional Needs Specialist, EMC Literacy: Reading—Language Arts, EC and MC Generalist, EMC and EAYA Physical Education, ECYA School Counseling, and EMC Music: Band specialists. Los Angeles scoring teams consist of 2 to 9 assessors with a trainer, and each scoring team occupies an individual meeting room for privacy and security.

The National Board values face-to-face collegial interactions among members of the teaching profession and is excited to announce opportunities for in-person scoring of the certification assessment in Los Angeles. Are you interested in becoming an assessor? To learn more and apply click the link below. If you have related questions, contact us at [email protected].

We at the National Board hope to see you when we visit the scoring site!

Best regards,

Andrea Hajek, NBCT
