Los Angeles Fire Department Air Operations and ground crews responded to assist a stranded hiker in the Aliso Canyon area.

A 35-year-old woman was located approximately 100 yards above Sesnon Road on a steep hillside near the Aliso Canyon Wash.

Although she had no reported injuries or medical complaints, the terrain prevented her from safely returning on her own.

Fire 1 hoisted an LAFD paramedic to the patient's location to conduct an assessment and assist with the rescue.

The woman was then hoisted from the hillside and safely transported to Sesnon Road, where she was reunited with a companion who drove her home.

The patient was evaluated by firefighters and declined further medical treatment or transportation to a hospital. No injuries were reported.

Did you know that a child is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes worldwide? Far too many brave kids face harsh treatments and lose their hair in the battle for their lives.
Today, your Los Angeles Fire Department is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our community and the Los Angeles Police Department in a show of ultimate solidarity. Firefighters, police officers, and brave community members are shaving their heads to send a clear message to pediatric cancer patients: You are not fighting this alone.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation raises millions of dollars every year to fund groundbreaking, lifesaving clinical trials and research specifically for children. Our goal is to ensure these young heroes get the chance to simply be kids.
Want to get involved?Whether you’re cheering on our "shavees", volunteering, or making a donation, your support makes a massive difference. Los Angeles firefighters responded to a brush fire Saturday morning in the Sepulveda Basin near 15700 West Burbank Boulevard.

Firefighters arriving on scene found a vegetation fire burning in heavy brush, that eventually made its way out into the lighter grass between the wash area and the Model Airplane Field parking lot.

The fire initially measured approximately 100 feet by 20 feet and was spreading at a slow rate. Park Rangers assisted firefighters during the incident, and no structures were threatened. No injuries were reported.

LAFD ground crews, hand crews, helicopters, bulldozers, water tenders, and heavy equipment responded to the incident as firefighters worked to contain the fire in difficult terrain.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped at 12:38 p.m., with the final burned area estimated at approximately 1.5 acres.

Approximately 118 LAFD personnel were assigned to the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and arson investigators were requested to the scene.

ADVISORY -- Orange County FIre Authority:Garden Grove Hazmat Incident May 23, 2026
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is closely monitoring an ongoing hazardous materials incident in Garden Grove, California, involving an overheating 34,000-gallon chemical tank at an industrial aerospace facility. The compromised tank continues to heat internally, despite earlier indications that containment efforts were stabilizing the situation. Approximately 50,000 residents remain under evacuation orders as emergency crews work to prevent the tank from leaking or triggering a catastrophic explosion.
LAFD is in contact with members of the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) as this incident develops. Our thoughts are with the residents affected and with the men and women of OCFA working tirelessly on the front lines of this response.
