Los Angeles Model Railroad Society (LAMRS)

Los Angeles Model Railroad Society (LAMRS) LAMRS was established in 1971 and is a 501(c)(3). For more that 27 years our Great Lakes & Western layout was located in Hawthorne, CA. Western Avenue.

In 2023, after losing our lease, we started building a new layout at a new location in Harbor City, CA. The Los Angeles Model Railroad Society (LAMRS) is a non-profit California corporation made up of a diverse group of model railroad enthusiasts of many ages, professions and backgrounds. The LAMRS has been promoting the hobby of model railroading for more than thirty five years and was the proud

operator of the HO Scale Great Lakes & Western (GL&W) Railroad until it was disassembled in July 2021. We a now building our new layout in Harbor City at 26008 S. Stay tuned for progress updates! The LAMRS uses its model railroad interests to benefit the community. We present displays and information at local libraries and encourage activities with the community. We accept donations of model railroad items such as layouts and model trains. We pride ourselves in welcoming beginning and novice model railroaders into our great hobby and immediately getting them involved in the fun of operating trains and working on our model railroad. The LAMRS works hard to ensure the continued development and enjoyment of the hobby for our members with events such as how-to modeling clinics, group outings to railroad locations throughout Southern California, visiting and hosting other model railroad clubs for guest operating sessions, as well as active involvement with the National Model Railroad Association.
