Exactly 10 years ago, I went on a solo road trip from West Los Angeles to Colorado in search of that state’s skatepark pools. They did not disappoint.

I made it all the way to Fort Collins, skating many spots along the way. Real pools, skateparks, and ditches across five states, covering more than 3,000 miles.

The first skatepark pool of the trip was in Colorado Springs. A super sick pool with a gnarly shallow-end stair to get over it.

Big props to Team Pain Skateparks for building it.

Another World Cup starts today! As a Brazilian this is a important sports event to me but more important is the fact that marks my calendar as the first time I stepped a foot on a skateboard, same skateboard as photo 2 a Bandeirantes board from Brazil. The year was 1986 and the Cup was In Mexico 🇲🇽. That particular Cup we brought down an old and heavy television to our apartment building lobby so our door man friend could watch the Brazil game. Lots of kids came down to watch together and someone I can’t remember exactly had this board and we all tried and ate it 😂 it was so hard. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of myself during that first months but my neighbor from the 7th floor (Rodrigo Kabuça) have a few from a year later or so. So yeah this World Cup 2026 I celebrate 40 years of skateboarding Never Quit Never Will! 🏆 Vai Brasil 🇧🇷

San Juan Capistrano Skatepark bowl. I’m pretty sure the shape of this one was based on a swimming pool they had here in the ’80s that was heavily skated. It would be even more fun if they had added the pool obstacles from the original. My first time here, and I really enjoyed the bowl and the whole skatepark.

Clip 1: What 40 years of skateboarding does to the lip of the Downtown Los Angeles Brick Volcanos spot!

Clip 2: Natas Kaupas skateboarding the DTLA Volcanos in 1989 — probably the first time I ever saw someone skate this spot.
