Step inside LAFD Fire Station 109 🚒

This is where crews train, respond, and reset day in and day out. Through the Adopt-A-Fire-Station (AAFS) program, stations like this receive vital equipment and resources that aren’t covered by the city's budget.

Recently, donor dollars helped provide updated kitchen appliances and supplies for the station. When you give to the AAFS program, you’re helping strengthen an entire fire station and the firefighters who call it home.

LAFD Crew 4 in action, actively engaged in the Sandy Fire.

The LAFD Foundation helped fund and secure the essential tools and equipment needed to support the crew, made possible through generous donor support. In-kind donations through the Foundation helped ensure every Crew 4 member is equipped with safety glasses, gloves, chainsaws, critical personal protective equipment (PPE), brush cutters, and more.

Due to forecasted fire weather conditions locally, the LAFD has already pre-deployed resources in preparation for potential activity.

Please keep our firefighters in your thoughts as they continue providing mutual aid support, and stand at the ready here in LA ❤️

📣Introducing April's Firefighter of the Month: Firefighter Wes Brinson from the Training and Recruitment Section.

Growing up in South LA, Brinson didn't come from a firefighting family, but a family friend who was an LAFD firefighter showed him what a life of service could look like. That inspiration led him to the LAFD Cadet program, where he began to see himself as a firefighter.

Just after completing his written exam, a hiring freeze halted his dreams. Undeterred, he earned his fire science degree, worked as an EMT, and traveled to 20+ countries while waiting for his chance.

Years later, the LAFD reopened applications. Brinson scored 100% on his interview and finally joined the department. From his first major structure fire to the heartbreaking calls that test every firefighter, he's learned the power of preparation, teamwork, and showing up for each other.

Now in Training & Recruitment, Brinson mentors Cadets and aspiring firefighters, giving back what was once given to him. "I see myself in these kids," he said, “and I want to give back what was given to me.”

Donor dollars have a real-world impact on emergency response in LA.

Recently,  firefighters responded to a fire in an access portal beneath the 110 Freeway in Wilmington using specialized equipment purchased through the LAFD Foundation.

Because of you, crews were equipped with the RS3 robotic firefighting vehicle, TFT BlitzFire Monitors, Rosie the robot dog, and Starlinks (not pictured).

🤖 RS3 helped clear brush and move sand to prevent contaminated runoff from entering storm drains.

💧TFT BlitzFire Monitors are portable ground monitors that deliver high-volume foam streams from a fixed position, improving both safety and efficiency during dangerous incidents.

🐕 Rosie remotely assessed structural stability while monitoring temperature and air quality, providing critical information before the freeway could safely reopen.

📞Starlinks provided reliable emergency communications and connectivity, helping crews maintain coordination throughout the incident.

Our work would not be possible without you. Your trust and support power our mission to provide essential equipment for the LAFD.
