ASME at UCLA

This is the UCLA chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Thirty-two thousand of these members are students.

ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods. Founded in 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists, ASME has grown through the decades to include more than

130,000 members in 151 countries. From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers and academic leaders, ASME’s members are as diverse as the engineering community itself. ASME serves this wide-ranging technical community through quality programs in continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations and other forms of outreach.

Since the last collaboration was so popular, ASME and Rocket Project are back with another social! ✨ Join us this Sunday 11/17 where we’ll be taking a relaxing hike outdoors at Temescal Canyon Trail! This is a beginner friendly 2 hour trail featuring beautiful views of mountains 🏔️ , waterfalls, flora, and even the ocean 🌊, all with lots of shade!

We will also be meeting at the intersection between Strathmore and Gayley at 9:30AM and then walking over to the bus stop which departs at 9:48 AM so please be on time!

Please remember to bring the following items:
- Water bottle
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Snacks/Packed Lunch (optional)
- Appropriate footwear and attire
- UCLA Tap card (or get it on apple/google wallet)

Join us for our first ASME KICKBACK of the year! It’ll be happening Friday (11/8), 10PM, at the roof of 11024 Strathmore Dr. The theme is Rhyme without Reason, so pick a partner and come up with an unlikely but rhyming pair to dress up as (i.e. Fanta and Santa)! We’ll be doing a $5 presale and $8 at the door fee for access to our open “ice cream” bar. Can’t wait to see you there!

Scared of studying for midterms? Haunted by your upcoming assignments? Take a break this spooky season and join us for our ASME x Rocket Project Pumpkin Carving Social that is happening this Saturday (10/26), from 2-4PM. It will be located in the Rocket Project Lab (Eng IV 14-118) which is directly across from the lower engineering makerspace. All pumpkins and tools will be provided for free, and please be sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty!
