Last week we celebrated the Italian Design Day in Los Angeles 🇮🇹✨
An initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marked in over 100 cities worldwide, IDD brings Italian design into a global conversation.

This year’s theme, “Re-Design: regenerating spaces, objects, ideas and relationships,” invited us to re-think design as a tool for transformation, connecting sustainability, communities, and new ways of living.

At the Florim showroom in West Hollywood, we were honored to host Damiano Gullì (Curator for Contemporary Art and Public Program at Triennale Milano), in conversation with author and producer Frances Anderton—a dialogue between Italy and California, between tradition and experimentation.

A special grazie to our partners:
🤝
🤝
🤝 for hosting us in such a beautiful space

Because design is, above all, about building connections between places, ideas, and people!

On 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 Italy honors the courage that shaped our freedom.
We celebrate the end of the N**i occupation, the fall of the Fascist regime and the victory of the Italian resistance movement that gave us democracy and the foundation of the modern Italian Republic.

Last Thursday, we opened at the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles the exhibition “Fortunato Depero: Graphic Art Between Italy & the United States”.

The show arrives in the City of Angels directly from Washington, D.C.—where it was first presented at the Embassy of Italy—and is the result of a collaboration with the Archivio Depero and StArt.

Curated by Maurizio Scudiero, the exhibition brings together around 50 works tracing the evolution of Fortunato Depero as a graphic designer, illustrator, and visual thinker.

Depero was the only Futurist to experience New York firsthand, and one of the first artists to understand that modern life would be shaped not only by art in museums, but by images, by graphic language, by communication, by everything we see, every day.

He imagined a world in which art enters everyday life—through advertising, typography, publishing, and design.

Nearly a century later, that intuition feels incredibly familiar.

On view through June 30, as part of the Italian program for the commemorations.

At the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles, Carlo Ratti joined Elena Manferdini for a conversation marking the launch of “Chimera: The Architecture of Contemporary Utopias”, the new issue of Architectural Design, featuring contributions by several Italian authors.

Part of a two-day symposium between the Italian Cultural Institute and SCI-Arc, the evening centered on a simple but urgent question: what if the most important task of architecture today is to imagine again?

At a time when the future often feels already mapped, utopia becomes not a distant ideal, but a tool to question the present and open new possibilities for how we design—and inhabit—the world.

🇺🇸 In celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, together with the Festival Los Angeles, Italia, we hosted a special screening of Anna – The Untold Story by Monica Guerritore, dedicated to the legendary Anna Magnani — the first Italian actress to win an Academy Award, exactly 70 years ago.

We asked some of the women present a simple question:
What word best describes Anna Magnani?

👉🏻 What’s your word?

On March 8 we celebrate International Women’s Day, honoring the achievements, creativity and strength of women around the world.

It is also an opportunity to reflect on the work that still lies ahead. Despite important progress, gender equality remains an ongoing global challenge.

Today we recognize women everywhere — their voices, their contributions, and the shared responsibility we all have in building a more just and inclusive future.
