Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND) and the Gabrielino-Tongva Springs Foundation are thrilled to present “Endless Wellspring,” a series of free public programs this summer at Kuruvungna Village Springs celebrating Tongva art and culture.
Meaning “a place where we are in the sun,” Kuruvungna is the site of a natural spring and an ancestral Tongva village in Tovaangar, present-day Los Angeles. Stewarded by the Gabrielino-Tongva Springs Foundation, the two-acre site features ponds, gardens, and a cultural center.
Organized by artist Mercedes Dorame (.dorame) and Christopher Mangum-James (), LAND’s deputy director, “Endless Wellspring” is centered around the theme of regeneration, bringing together Native artists and educators to engage with the natural elements and ongoing life and history of Kuruvungna. From hands-on art making workshops to a special music performance, and guided garden tours, we look forward to seeing you at the Springs this summer.
For the first event in the series, join us on Saturday, June 28, from 11AM – 12PM for a special walkthrough on the history of Kuruvungna led by Angie Behrns, founder of the Gabrielino-Tongva Springs Foundation, with Mercedes Dorame.
Details on all “Endless Wellspring” programs can be found on LAND’s website. Link in bio.
