Earlier this month, members of CIYJA, an organization in Fresno that supports immigrant youth, went to Sacramento for the Immigrant Day of Action to advocate for pro-immigrant policies, and brought ten youth with us, but we want to share these teachings with others who could not attend. This Thursday, we invite immigrant students to learn more about these policies and build community. Food will be provided. Please RSVP and invite your friends, this event is open to youth ages 16–26!

✨Community Call to Action ✨

Carolina is a leader who was formely inside Mesa Verde aka the “hielera” 🧊🧊. Her advocacy to has not only been her way of showing up for her community but to also show up for her own liberation.

Unfortunately, Carolina is facing a difficult battle against lupus and other health conditions that have stopped her from living her everyday life to the best of her abilities.

Community, please show up for Carolina in these times of need and care. Carolina greatly appreciates all the community support she can get in this continuous battle she is facing.

If you are unable to donate, please share widely with your networks. 📣

Community care for Carolina! ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥

Call to Action to Shutdown California City Detention 📣

Ahead of the City Commissioner meeting happening on April 21. We are asking all of our supporters, neighbors, and collaborators to call and email the city commissioners to let them know that we oppose the approval of permits for CoreCivic in our communities. And for them to do the right thing and listen to our communities when we say they hurt, harm, and separate our families.

URGENT UPDATE: 📣

As of 5:00 am this morning, our dear Loba has been moved out of the horrific California City ICE Detention Center. She mentions she is not scared but rather anxious and confident. Loba’s work and organizing have touched so many people around her. Her advocacy even during this time has improved conditions for community members detained at this horrible place. In her words: “I am Confident God Will see me through.”

We are still $1,800 away from our fundraising goal of $5,000. Please continue to share, donate, and amplify her campaign. The funds raised will go toward her resettlement, legal fees, and personal items.

🚨URGENT CALL TO ACTION🚨: Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 5:00 PM, the California City
Planning Commission scheduled a second public hearing on the matter of CoreCivic and we
need you to show up, either in person or via zoom.
CoreCivic, a billion-dollar private prison corporation, is operating the largest immigration
detention center in California without a valid business license or updated conditional use
permit. Despite repeated warnings and months of public testimony, city officials have failed to
take meaningful action.
The California City Council has downplayed this issue saying it’s a federal matter or that they’ve
visited the center and it looks fine. This is not solely a federal issue. It is also about local power -
it is also about enforcing local law. We ask the Planning Commission to take immediate action,
enforce California City’s municipal codes and protect public safety. Failure to act will allow
unlawful conduct and human rights violations to continue.
