Our second annual Boat & Vessel Owners’ Town Hall was a tremendous success, bringing together more than 60 marine vessel owners for an informative discussion on the assessment process and the services provided by our Office. Outreach opportunities like this reflect our continued commitment to transparency, education, and assistance for property owners.
I am especially grateful to our Assessor employees for their outstanding work in delivering an interactive presentation that gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions, gain valuable insights, and better understand how vessel assessments are conducted. Events like this strengthen our connection with the communities we serve and help ensure property owners have the information and resources they need.

When the devastating 2025 wildfires impacted Los Angeles County, the modernization efforts at the Assessor's Office proved critical in delivering fast and accurate property tax relief to affected homeowners.

A new Government Technology case study highlights how our Office leveraged cloud-based infrastructure, data analytics, and other tools to reassess more than 18,000 properties in just 90 days, helping thousands of impacted residents receive relief faster while protecting critical county services. This is a process that once could have taken more than a year using legacy systems.

This work reflects our continued commitment to innovation, transparency, and responsive public service during moments when residents need government most.

On this day, we celebrate the women who nurtured us, guided us, and filled our lives with unconditional love. They are the ones we cherish as mothers in every sense of the word. Whether it is your mom, grandma, aunt, mentor, friend, or someone who simply showed up with a mother’s heart, today is for them. Happy Mother's Day.

This month, we celebrate and honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities across the United States. AANHPI Heritage Month is a time to recognize the lasting impact these communities have made and continue to make in every field.

To show your support in LA County, attend a local event, support an AANHPI-owned business, or volunteer and donate to organizations in that help amplify AANHPI voices and stories. Let’s celebrate, uplift, and stand in solidarity this month and beyond.

Eid is a time of community, kindness, and faith and yesterday, I spent the morning with the IQRA Academy of Palos Verdes, surrounded by just that. Sharing food, laughter, and meaningful conversations made the celebration even more special that reminded me of the beauty of connection and the strength of community. Eid Mubarak!

Last week, I traveled to Sacramento to advocate on behalf of Los Angeles County property owners in support of AB 2172, legislation that would establish a more efficient, alternative pathway for processing Assessment Appeals, and SB 1352, which would expand eligibility for homeowners affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires to retain their pre-disaster tax base as they rebuild. I am grateful to our partners in Sacramento, especially the Offices of Assemblymember Mike Gipson, and Senators Suzette Valladares and Ben Allen, for their help in authoring this legislation.
