At the extended invitation of Mr. Keson Tinker, Tourism Attaché with The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism in The Bahamas Consulate General, Consul General Joy A. Newbold-Sherman attended the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce’s An Evening with the Mayor: State of the City 2026, held at the historic Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

The annual signature event brought together civic leaders, members of the business community, government officials and community partners for an evening of meaningful engagement and dialogue, featuring Beverly Hills Mayor Craig Corman. The one on one panel discussion focused on the City of Beverly Hill’s priorities, continued development and vision for the future.

CG Newbold-Sherman was pleased to join members of the Beverly Hills community for the occasion and to further strengthen the relationships fostered through the Mission’s engagement within its jurisdiction. Always a stand out performance by the City, the event not only highlighted the networking partnership of community stakeholders but afforded CG Newbold-Sherman the opportunity to liaise with many individuals seeking to create furture business ventures in The Bahamas.

During the evening, CG Newbold-Sherman also had the pleasure of meeting Chief Max Subin, Chief of Police of the Beverly Hills Police Department, and exchanging greetings on behalf of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. She hopes to create a and engagment through a joint MOU.

CONSUL GENERAL JOY A. NEWBOLD-SHERMAN ATTENDS AFRICA DAY CELEBRATION AT LOS ANGELES CITY HALL, DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles, California – June 10, 2026

Consul General Joy A. Newbold-Sherman proudly represented the Commonwealth of The Bahamas at this year’s Africa Day celebration hosted by the City of Los Angeles.

On behalf of the City of Los Angeles, Councilwoman Heather Hutt, Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, and Councilmember Curren D. Price Jr. extended the invitation to the event, which took place on Tuesday, June 10, 2026, at Los Angeles City Hall. The event commenced at 9:00am behind the John Ferraro City Council Chamber, followed immediately by a formal presentation at 10:00 AM.

The program celebrated diplomatic representatives from Africa and the Caribbean while highlighting four distinguished community leaders for their outstanding contributions.

During the celebration, the City of Los Angeles presented to her surprise, Consul General Joy A. Newbold-Sherman with a Certificate of Recognition in acknowledgment of her dedicated service, leadership in strengthening bilateral relations, and contributions to the diplomatic community in the region. Consul General Newbold expressed deep appreciation for the honor and reaffirmed The Bahamas’ commitment to fostering strong ties with the City of Los Angeles, the broader African diaspora, and Caribbean partners.

“This recognition underscores the enduring friendship between The Bahamas and the United States, particularly within the vibrant multicultural landscape of Los Angeles,” said Consul General Newbold-Sherman. “It is an honor to stand alongside my African and Caribbean diplomatic colleagues as we celebrate Africa Day and the rich cultural heritage and shared values that unite us.”
