Munster Mansion

Munster Mansion Welcome to the one and only fan-page for the Munster Mansion! The spooky television home of America's First Family of Fright - The Munsters!

Officially one of the most recognisable homes in film and television history, building #3 (originally known as the Maxim House) is best known as the house of television family "The Munsters", featured on "The Munsters" (1964-1966) and "The Munsters Today" (1988-1991). Originally built in 1946 for the feature film "So Goes My Love", the house was later used on "The Munsters". The exterior of the ho

use is located on the Colonial Street back-lot at Universal Studios, California - with the interiors seen on "The Munsters" and "The Munsters Today" located nearby on separately built sound-stages to accommodate a live studio audience. The house had fell into a severe state of disrepair prior to filming of "The Munsters Today" in 1988, resulting in a scale miniature model being used in addition to licenced stock footage from the original show. The house has since been returned to its former glory (albeit without its spooky adornments and gothic gate-posts), and has featured recently on Desperate Housewives as part of Wisteria Lane. Over the years the house has appeared on many other shows, including; Murder She Wrote, Coach and briefly in the feature film Dragnet. Find out more about the house at www.themunsterstoday.tk. Munster enthusiasts Charles and Sandra McKee built their own "live-in" Munster Mansion in Texas, the build completed fully in 2009. Find out more about at www.munstermansion.com.
