Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind

Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind TLC provides Residential and Creative Arts Programs for adults and children with disabilities in the San Fernando Valley. Mr. & Mrs.

From fine arts and music to dance and beyond, our programs are built around creativity, community, and belonging. Therapeutic Living & Learning Centers (TLC) was founded by Bernice and Seymour Pearlman in 1975 at a time when programs and services for their multi-disabled blind son were nonexistent. Pearlman, along with a small group of other families, were determined that the status quo could not

continue. Through their diligence and determination they made it happen by personally signing the note on TLC's first home. The mission of TLC is to provide for the lifetime needs of individuals with multiple-disabilities and blindness.

What a morning to remember. πŸ•ŠοΈβœ¨

On Sunday, the TLC family came together as one community to celebrate the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-USA Peace Run 2026.

From our residents and Creative Arts Program students to staff, volunteers, family members, and our friends at , it was a day filled with unity, joy, and shared purpose.

We are especially proud to share that Bonnie, Mario, Anne, Carmen, and Children's Creative Arts Program student Ronnie were all awarded the torch medal of the Peace Run 2026 in recognition of their community service and excellence. What an incredible honor. πŸ”₯πŸ’›

Participant Nick Pratt put it best: "Being part of the Peace Run made me feel proud, connected, and happy to be with everyone as one TLC."

That is exactly what the TLC community is all about. Thank you to the Peace Run organizers for creating such a meaningful and memorable experience. We will carry this day with us for a long time. πŸ•ŠοΈ

We are so proud to celebrate one of our own. 🌟

TLC's Executive Director, Bonnie Schlachte, was recently nominated for the Executive of the Year award at the LA Business Journal Women's Leadership Symposium & Awards, and we think that says it all.

Since joining TLC in 2019, Bonnie has transformed our organization from the ground up. From expanding our Creative Arts Programs and launching our Children's After School Program to leading a $5 million renovation campaign and growing our residential community, her vision and dedication have made TLC the thriving, compassionate community it is today.

To the families, staff, and community members who have seen Bonnie's impact firsthand, this nomination comes as no surprise. We are so grateful to have her leading the way. πŸ’›

Congratulations on this well deserved recognition, Bonnie!

Something wonderful is coming to the TLC Black Box Theater. 🌸✨

We are so excited to announce our Summer Showcase, A Renaissance of Wonder, a celebration of creativity, beauty, and the flowering of human expression. Inspired by the Renaissance, this showcase brings together dance, music, theater, visual art, ceramics, and garden design into one unforgettable artistic world.

This is what happens when our Creative Arts Program students are given the space to create, and we cannot wait for you to see it.
