East Area Progressive Democrats We are a thriving local, community-based Democratic club serving the greater Eastside of Los Angeles & adjoining neighborhoods, open to all area Democrats.

This vibrant and diverse organization was formed to influence lawmakers, candidates, elections, and policies that affect our communities and daily lives. These include full equality for women and LGBT people & families, racial & reproductive justice, environmental protection & urgent action for climate survival, elimination of gun violence, overcoming economic inequality, affordable housing, immig

ration reform, animal welfare, high-quality public education, healthcare for all, separation of church & state, voting rights, police accountability, complete streets, and openness & ethics in government. Official : For the Board of Pasadena City College in Area 1, members voted for Democrat Francis Pollara to be the club’s endorsed candidate. He earned 90 percent of members’ votes. Good governance in our institutions matters. So does electing skilled leaders of strong character with solid training & firsthand experience as former students. Together we can STOP : The right-wing ballot measure is an assault on ALL eligible Californians’ right to vote. It prohibits voting by citizens unless displaying a government-issued ID. This exclusionary policy simply throws barriers before voters & aims to enable intimidation, interference, & obstruction. But why no evacuation, Mayor Karen Bass? Soliciting & securing money, especially $2 million, from should be disclosed to Angelenos. Many residents in Boyle Hts., including some who live less than a block from where that warehouse was burning, are concerned that in the days after that toxic inferno began in June, you appeared to pay far more attention to the CEO of than to people in L.A. who were NOT evacuated. Boyle Hts. residents are still suffering from the , & that includes health problems, distrust of stemming from lack of an evacuation plan, lack of resources directly to people most in need, & lack of urgency for shutting down this warehouse site.

Newly ! Barri Worth Girvan earned official endorsement by to fill the open seat to serve L.A. City Council District 3, winning 87 percent of members’ votes. What a breath of fresh air to bring forward a well-trained, energetic, progressive public servant, unbought by favor-seekers at City Hall, to serve city residents. As club members in this district say, protecting & stopping exploitation of working-class neighborhoods by profiteers is a top goal. It takes ALL of us. Making city government deliver to improve quality of life & stop shoddy corporate operators & shady land-use practices starts with City Council members who listen, care, & enforce the law.
