Los Angeles City certified Neighborhood Councils were established with the belief that individuals, businesses and government institutions can work hand-in-hand in solving community problems and coming to terms with issues that are vital to improving and enhancing the quality of life in a community. Neighborhood Councils are able to officially address their community's issues with governmental officials and city departments, creating positive changes for themselves and their neighbors. The Neighborhood Council is composed of elected or appointed representatives like you. As a Neighborhood Council Board Member you are involved in an advisory capacity with the City of Los Angeles including zoning, land use and development plans, citywide budget planning and working with city departments and the delivery of city services. The following board seats are open for election: four (4) seats for individuals who live in the WSNC area; four (4) seats for individuals that work or own a business in the WSNC area; four (4) seats for individuals that work for a community-based organization in the WSNC area; and three (3) seats for individuals that have an at-large interest in the WSNC area. Candidates must be WSNC stakeholders 18 years of age or older and meet other criteria. Lawful status in the United States is not required to run for office.
