Assuming this is not safe to drive like this?

2012 Subaru forester xp
192k miles

Long story short, been saying there’s something off with the steering so finally got it jacked up and took a look at it. Obviously needs control arms done (bushings and ball joints mostly). Planned on doing sway bar links too. Pretty confident the transmission is going out on it so I’m hesitant to put money into the car. Is this at the “absolutely do not drive it” stage yet or can I get a couple of weeks out of it while figuring out where to go from here?

I do not want to drive it. I don’t feel comfortable driving it but I live at home and my father keeps telling me that it’s fine. This is pretty much my only mode of transportation to and from work unless I can catch rides.

Can someone be my dad for a minute?

I got my used 2020 Subaru Forester Touring Cvt trans and a 2.5 engine about 2 months ago, had a little over 37k miles on it and this is the second time I'm having issues and I've only driven it 1kish miles

Today was honestly the first time I've really opened it up on a little road trip, it raining hard and as I'm about an hour away from home it gets the above. The [S] is blinking I didn't stall this time so I don't think it's the same issue. But idk if the weather could be a factor in both events. It had rained heavily about 2 weeks straight the first time, this time was just driving in the heavy rain.

First time it stalled out it was 2 weeks after getting it. Literally every light was on. I was fortunate enough to be in a place with 2 mechanics who were able to help me. We ended up jumping it and I pumped the gas till it turned over but it was just shaking rocking back and forth. Honestly, very scary. The people who helped me cleared the codes with their code reader and told me it was misfiring and low fuel pressure, but not the actual codes. I took it back to the dealership told them what happened and they took a look at it. They couldn't do anything for me because they couldn't recreate the issue and I didn't have the exact codes only what they said. Which is fair but disappointing. I understand it could have been so many things, I chalked it up to it maybe something like a bad tank of gas, but I had gotten gas 2 days before stalled drove it to and from work 30 minutes to and from an airport etc.

What should I tell them to look for besides the code it's throwing now if anything? My plan is to call the dealership ASAP but this on top of the first issue makes me think something is definitely wrong somewhere sneaky.

Makes a clunky sound when I am turning now to the left only, luckily it happened right beside my house.

Tiny metal discs inside shifter

We used a magnet to get all these tiny metal discs out from inside the shifter. It stopped working suddenly and was stuck in reverse gear. Now that all the metal pieces are out, it will only go into first and second gear. We haven't tried to drive it though because the battery is disconnected.

1995 Miata mazda

It's my friend's car so I'm waiting to see what they decide to do next. We realized the transmission fluid needs to be changed but we haven't checked the transmission yet.

Trim to fit brake pad (backing plates)

My garage and my newly acquired enthusiast car from a smaller neighboring island

Symptoms: Odd random noises/rumbling on braking and poor wear marks, not to mention slotted rotors (on the front only of course)

Did these mfers really grind the ears down to get the pads in easier?! They're definitely hacked back and painted, wild.

And the uneven wear on one side was due to pad material being broken at the top of the pad

I mean, I'm a smooth brain gorilla sometimes, but I've never been that desperate....

Plenty of pad left but really happy I decided to do the full job, I do, like my brakes working

Came in for a fan belt, staying for an engine rebuild

Had a 1959 Triumph TR3A come in earlier this week on appointment to replace a "squeaking fan belt". Owner is very sweet, very old, very rich, and doesn't know much about cars. The squeaking fan belt, also accompanied by a deep ticking noise elsewhere, turned out to be a seized water pump. The engine itself was shaking violently in its mounts at idle, smoking thick white clouds out of the exhaust manifold, and making a deep ticking noise.
Replacing the water pump (which we had already ordered) revealed that the car was very low on coolant. Many coolant lines were found to be leaking. The temp gauge did not function when started back up. On top of this, the engine bay was covered in a black sticky film.
The vehicle overheated on a brief test drive with the new pump, at which point we got permission from the owner to further diagnose the engine. Compression came back 95, 115, 60, 145. Oil and coolant both had such a horrible smell that I got dizzy. Preparing to do a head gasket, I took the head off to check warpage on the block. Before I cleaned it, the entire block surface, head surface, and valves were covered in soot.
After cleaning, I discovered the pitting to the block surface in the photos, and serious warpage. We're pretty sure the ticking noise is a rod or two, damn impressed the thing is still running. Our current theory is the temp gauge didn't work when the owner bought the car, and didn't notice the leaking lines and eventually ran low enough to overheat. By the state the engine was in, this was probably done again and again every so often for months.
On top of the rebuild which the customer approved, we found every joint and bushing failed on the front suspension and steering, and a 150 degree dead zone in the steering wheel. Customer has also approved a refresh of the front end.
I wish I had that kind of money.
