A year ago today, our community was shaken.
June 6, 2025. The LA raids tore through neighborhoods, workplaces, and streets — leaving fear, chaos, and devastation behind. Families were separated. Parents couldn’t drop their kids off at school. Neighbors were afraid to step outside.
A year later, that fear hasn’t fully lifted.
Many of our immigrant neighbors still can’t freely walk to the grocery store. Still think twice before taking their kids to school. The raids changed something — and for so many families, the impact is still very much present. Now, with the threat of more raids looming, that weight only grows heavier.
We refuse to look away.
World Harvest has partnered with LATU-Ktown to build a food distribution system for families in the Koreatown community who are still living in the aftermath — and bracing for what may come next. Because people who are afraid to leave their homes still need to eat. Because showing up for our neighbors isn’t optional.
This is us putting a system in place. So that no matter what happens, food is there. Community is there. World Harvest is there.
$50 funds one full grocery cart. Two families fed.

USE EVERY RESOURCE POSSIBLE!

I’ve been seeing people question the $50… especially because the food is rescued and donated. And honestly? Questioning systems is how we stay aware. But let’s also understand what we’re looking at.

Building infrastructure.

Food is not suppose to be survival while we are living in the richest country in the world. It’s stability. It’s what lets families breathe for a moment.

That $50 donation is what keeps everything running so people can return again and again with dignity. It keeps refrigerators and freezers on so food stays fresh. It fuels the trucks that pick up food daily. It maintains the equipment needed to move and store thousands of pounds of groceries. It supports volunteers who also receive a cart at no cost. And it sustains the staff who make this space feel human, safe, and consistent.

They’ve built this intentionally.

Show up consistently and on your sixth visit, your cart is free. That is what it looks like when a system is built with the people in mind.

The Cart With a Heart can feed a family of five for at least two weeks. No ID required. Just basic information. They accept EBT.

And if $50 isn’t accessible right now, you can volunteer for four hours and receive the same cart.

No one deserves to go hungry. Not here. Not anywhere.
