Today, the S**G Regional Council adopted the 2027 Federal Transportation Improvement Program (FTIP) and Connect SoCal 2024 Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy Amendment 2, foundational documents that decide how transportation projects move from planning to implementation in Southern California.

The Regional Council action represents the culmination of a collaborative planning and public engagement process to deliver a coordinated transportation investment strategy for Southern California.

On Aug. 27, S**G co-hosted the 2026 Inland Zero Emission Vehicle Forum, with the Western Riverside County Clean Cities Coalition and the Southern California Clean Cities Coalition at the Riverside Convention Center. Attendees of this annual event gained industry updates, technical training, insightful discussions, and networking opportunities through panel discussions, interactive workshops, expo sessions, and hands-on experience with zero-emission and alternative fuel vehicle technologies and experts.

Help improve traffic safety in Stanton and learn more about S**G’s Planning for Main Streets project at a pop-up workshop at the Stanton Central Park Splash Pad on Aug. 30, from 1 to 3 pm.

The Planning for Main Streets project is a regional effort led by S**G to reimagine state highway corridors that double as community main streets—such as State Route 39 in Stanton. Your feedback will help inform safety, mobility, and placemaking improvements along the corridor.

The pop-up will provide information about the project and proposed improvements along the specific corridor in that area. The project team will be available to hear questions, comments, and ideas. Participants can stop by the pop-up at any time during the event. Help improve traffic safety in local communities and learn more about S**G’s Planning for Main Streets project, a regional effort to reimagine state highway corridors that double as community main streets, by attending a pop-up during an upcoming community event. S**G is hosting seven pop-ups during community events to gather input in the local communities where the projects are located.

The first event, at the Stanton Central Park Splash Pad, is on Aug. 30, so it’s time to start planning to attend an event.

Join S**G for a Toolbox Tuesday session featuring a demonstration of the SoCal Greenprint tool, a web-mapping application that supports users in making land use plans, transportation decisions, and conservation investments.

The SoCal Greenprint is an optional, flexible, and open conservation-focused data mapping tool that supports efforts to secure state and federal funding to implement sustainability and resilience projects and programs, as well as advance mitigation planning initiatives in the S**G region.

California’s Innovative Clean Transit regulation requires the state’s public transit agencies to transition to battery-electric and fuel cell electric buses, with an ambitious goal to achieve fully zero-emission fleets statewide by 2040.

S**G’s newly published “Innovative Clean Transit Regional Assessment” examines how transit agencies across Southern California are preparing for the state-mandated transition to zero-emission buses by evaluating existing fleet and infrastructure conditions, regional readiness, best practices, and key implementation challenges and opportunities.

Don’t forget to register for Toolbox Tuesday on Aug. 18 to learn effective planning tools and implementation strategies to meet California’s 2040 zero-emission transit goal. Session speakers will include representatives from S**G, CARB, Caltrans, the SunLine Transit Agency, and the Antelope Valley Transit Authority.

Toolbox Tuesday sessions are eligible for 1.5 AICP CM credits.
