S**G Executive Director Kome Ajise attended USC Professor Frank Zerunyan’s graduate-level class on Collaborative Governance to outline the various roles that S**G plays in connecting and leading the region. Professor Zerunyan is the mayor of Rolling Hills Estates and serves on S**G’s Community, Economic, and Human Development Committee.

Ajise’s presentation at USC also highlighted S**G’s upcoming Future Leaders Initiative Program, a six-month civic leadership program that helps emerging professionals build the knowledge, skills, and connections to engage in regional planning and civic decision-making. S**G sponsored the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation’s (LAEDC) 88 Cities Summit on Oct. 14 at Archer Aviation’s Hawthorne headquarters. The event gathered mayors, elected officials, and business leaders from across L.A. County’s 88 cities.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Hawthorne Mayor Alex Vargas and Archer leadership, followed by a morning plenary on “Future Ready Cities,” introduced by Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. and moderated by Ambassador Eric Garcetti of C40 Cities, with panelists L.A. City Planning Director Vince Bertoni and Archer Chief Strategy Officer Eric Lentell. A breakout session on “Building the Space Economy: City-Led Cluster Strategy and Regional Collaboration” followed, moderated by Sunstone Cities CEO John Keisler, with panelists El Segundo Mayor Chris Pimentel and Griffiss Institute California Lead Justin Salters.

Denise Sifford, S**G senior regional planner in the integrated planning and programming department, participated in the Construction Network's COG panel on Oct. 14 in La Mirada, sharing insights on S**G’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement and Surface Transportation Block Grant programs. The event connected public agencies and the construction community to discuss upcoming projects and opportunities.

S**G Executive Director Kome Ajise joined a panel at the 2026 California Economic Summit, hosted by California Forward. The panel, “The Future of Infrastructure – Shared Financing Model,” focused on new and creative financing mechanisms for critical infrastructure.

S**G is working with California Forward to develop a regional program that helps jurisdictions evaluate and implement tax increment financing tools to support infrastructure, housing, transportation, economic development, and climate resilience investments. Participating jurisdictions will receive assistance in assessing project feasibility, identifying revenue potential, developing financing strategies, and moving projects from concept to implementation.

S**G sponsored the Annual Ventura Council of Governments (VCOG) Dinner in Camarillo, where S**G Executive Director Kome Ajise welcomed local officials, city leaders, and other Ventura County stakeholders by highlighting the importance of regional collaboration and the strong partnership between VCOG and S**G. S**G Regional Council members in attendance included Mike Judge (VCTC), Rocky Rhodes (Simi Valley), and Laura Hernandez (Port Hueneme).

Earlier this week, S**G joined planners from across the state for the 2026 American Planning Association California Conference in Downtown Los Angeles. Amanda McDaniel, associate regional planner presented at the "Data-Driven Storytelling and Technical Assistance to Build a Safe Transportation System" panel, detailing how S**G provides big data and technical assistance to empower communities to tell their own stories. The session also shared details from a recent success in the city of San Bernardino where fatal and severe injury crashes reduced by 80% at treated sites.

S**G also tabled at the event, highlighting key programs, including S**G's LA28 Games efforts, the Future Leaders Initiative, and Go Human.

S**G’s transportation demand management (TDM) plan for the LA28 Games was recently featured by Alissa Walker on Torched. TDM reduces congestion by shifting demand to other modes, which will be an important strategy during the LA28 Games.

S**G is leading TDM work for the region, collaborating with regional partners to implement a comprehensive regional TDM strategy to prepare Southern California for moving differently during the games and beyond.
