The Ebell of Los Angeles is a nonprofit organization founded in 1894 by a small group of bold women to educate and uplift women. Our mission has evolved to advancing ALL Angelenos through education, arts and culture, and philanthropy. Throughout the year we present public programs at our historic campus and theatre featuring artists, athletes, scholars, scientists, business innovators and political leaders. We partner with other community organizations, and through all our projects our members still work to inspire and empower women, perhaps most notably through more than 100 years of awarding scholarships to students and providing grants to charities that help at-risk women and children in the Los Angeles community. Our motto is, “I will find a way, or make one.”

LA Voices: Free Sundays at The Ebell

It might only be October, but we're dreaming of the holidays at The Ebell! 🎄❄️

This December, the second installment of our free LA Voices series continues with the Ebell Chorale Holiday Concert & Tea, a festive afternoon celebrating both the season and one of the nation's longest-running treble choirs.

Under the direction of Dr. Yu Hang Tan, today's singers bring diverse musical backgrounds to a tradition that's lasted more than a hundred years. Stick around after the concert for a cozy afternoon tea in the Ebell Lounge. Admission to the concert is free, but be sure to grab a ticket if you’d like to join us for tea.

A big thank you to Camille Zapata for joining us on Monday for a wonderful installment of our Distinguished Voices luncheon in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Camille was warm and inspiring as she shared her story, her ideas behind her work, and what it takes to stay human inside one of the most-watched institutions in the nation. She was generous with her time and knowledge, especially during the live Q&A!

She reminded us that one post can reach someone who needed to hear it, and that being brave sometimes means taking the leap before you feel ready. From her origins in Stockton all the way to the Governor's office, we could all see a little bit of ourselves in her story.

We're grateful to everyone who joined us, and of course, to Camille for making it such a memorable afternoon.

Situmorang is a Berklee College of Music scholarship recipient and has performed alongside Grammy-winning pianist Billy Childs, opened for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and released the acclaimed album One Point One, nominated for Best Jazz Album at Indonesia's Anugerah Musik Indonesia awards.
