It’s Silicosis Awareness Month. reminds LA County to be wary of silica hiding in your countertops.

Quartz, also known as engineered or artificial stone contain more than 90% crystalline silica. When cut, harmful silica dust is released that affect workers’ health when inhaled causing silicosis, a serious lung disease.

Before you decide, talk to your contractor or designer about little to no silica alternatives that are just as beautiful and affordable.
