Children deserve to learn, play, and grow, not to work under exploitative conditions. On World Day Against Child Labor, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting children from exploitation and abuse. We will continue to hold those who harm our children accountable.

Labor exploitation comes in many forms. LADA recently charged a 26-year-old man with labor trafficking a 14-year-old middle schooler by making him prepare hundreds of items of clothing for online resale after taking the victim’s cell phone so he could not be contacted by his family. The defendant, Brandon Holguin, is also accused of furnishing the victim with Adderall and instructing him to use it as he worked. If convicted as charged, Holguin faces up to 14 years in state prison.

If you or someone you know is a potential victim of human trafficking, help is available. You are not alone. Visit da.lacounty.gov/victims/ht-guide for resources and support.
