It has been an honor and a privilege to take part in this endeavor that educates and gives proof of the richness and diversity of Filipino pre-colonial culture. Let’s continue to move forward in correcting our history and preventing myths and stigmas from permeating our psyches.

For the first time ever, the Sally von dem Hagen Collection of limestone artifacts from the Kulaman Plateau in Cotabato will be presented to the Los Angeles public. Come to the exhibit launch and lecture on March 7, 2023, to see this rare collection in its entirety before repatriation to the Philippine National Museum. The exhibit will be ongoing for private viewing after the launch - send a text message to 818-271-0901 to set an appointment for private viewing after March 7.

The exhibit launch will feature a greeting by Philippine Consul General Edgar Badajos and a short lecture by Prof. Stephen Acabado. There will also be a mini exhibit of Mindanao cultural and traditional items. Food will be served, which will include an indigenous Manobo dish and other food from Mindanao.

FASGI is humbled to be the caretaker of these artifacts while logistics of repatriation are negotiated. The UCLA School of Archaeology, headed by esteemed Professor Stephen Acabado (he is one of the main proponents for repatriation), is currently conducting studies on the artifacts in the hopes of gaining a deeper understanding of the tribal, indigenous, pre-colonial, and multifaceted Filipino culture.

We are proud to partner with the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, UCLA, Ethel G. Rubio Associates, and other groups in this endeavor.

This exhibit is part of FASGI’s Cultural Program. For more information, please visit fasgi.org.
