A sea of orange filled the area recently as Caltrans District 7 workers gathered for their annual memorial. The moving event honored 32 crew members who tragically lost their lives while keeping Los Angeles highways safe.

In a district where motorists travel 99 million miles every day, road crews face constant danger. These dedicated workers repair potholes, fences, and guardrails to ensure the traveling public stays safe. However, they face extreme risks from fast traffic, hazardous conditions, and distracted drivers.

One man with gloves, trash bags, and a camera is inspiring residents to help clean Los Angeles.

Every weekday morning, Juan heads out to clean sidewalks and public spaces impacted by littering from residents, illegal dumping, and everyday debris through his growing movement, “Clean LA with Me.” Juan was recently honored by the L.A. City Council for his contribution and dedication to helping better his community.

When Juan encounters bulky illegally dumped items, he uses the MyLA311 app to report them so City services can assist.

Los Angeles has officially launched Section 1 of the Metro D Line extension, changing the City’s transit game forever. This major milestone marks the only heavy rail project to open anywhere in the United States this year.

The new line offers a massive relief for frustrated drivers. Commuters can now travel from downtown to the Westside in just 20 minutes, bypassing some of the worst gridlock in the City.

City leaders partnered with local neighborhoods and businesses to overcome tough construction challenges. For just $1.75, riders can easily reach jobs, schools, and world-class museums. When the full project finishes next year, it is expected to remove 78,000 cars from local roads.
