At GenSpace, technology classes are designed to make digital tools feel approachable, creative, and relevant to everyday life.

In Digital Art, members use iPads, Apple Pencils, and Procreate to explore creativity while building confidence with new technology. Intro to AI offered another hands-on way to engage with the digital world, giving members the chance to experiment with generative AI tools and learn how AI is increasingly shaping everyday life.

Across these programs, members are exploring new ideas, building skills, and staying connected in a rapidly changing digital world.

At GenSpace, intergenerational programs are a regular part of community life. Each week, members spend time gardening alongside children from the Erika J. Glazer Early Childhood Center, caring for the courtyard’s raised flower beds together.

Whether watering plants, trimming greenery, or simply talking and working side by side, these moments create natural opportunities for connection across generations. Over time, small weekly interactions grow into familiar routines, shared experiences, and meaningful relationships for both members and children alike.

Programs like this reflect GenSpace’s belief that community is strengthened when generations have opportunities to learn from, support, and spend time with one another. 💚

At GenSpace, choir is about more than singing together. It’s a space where members build confidence, connect with one another, and experience the joy of creating something as a group.

Led by Jeron, choir sessions bring members together to learn harmonies, practice new songs, and support each other along the way. Members explore different vocal parts, listen closely to one another, and work collaboratively to bring each arrangement to life.

What started as a casual singalong has grown into a vibrant community tradition rooted in creativity, collaboration, and shared expression through music. Week after week, choir offers members a chance to challenge themselves, build friendships, and be part of something bigger than any one voice alone.

At GenSpace, members are invited to strengthen both mind and community through engaging, skill-building experiences. Our Brain Health Games sessions bring members together for a Jeopardy-style trivia challenge designed to stimulate memory, attention, and problem-solving.

Working in teams, participants collaborated to weigh options and agree on shared answers, reinforcing communication and collective decision-making. The group dynamic encouraged active participation, social connection, and cognitive flexibility, as members combined individual knowledge with collective reasoning.

Experiences like these highlight the value of accessible, community-centered learning. By blending mental challenge with collaboration, GenSpace helps members build practical cognitive skills while fostering connection and long-term brain health 🧠

Language learning at GenSpace reflects the goals and interests of its members, creating opportunities that are both practical and meaningful. Throughout the month of April, we began incorporating Spanish, ESL, and Korean classes offering supportive spaces to build confidence in communication through real-life conversation and hands-on practice.

Members connect their learning to personal goals - whether speaking with family, preparing for travel, or feeling more comfortable in daily interactions. Through collaborative, bilingual instruction, these classes foster inclusion, connection, and cultural exchange.

Beyond communication, language learning also supports cognitive health, helping members strengthen memory and confidence in navigating the world around them 🌎

Building strength in ways that translate beyond the classroom is central to how members engage with movement and wellness. Through Seated Resistance Bands and Seated Movement & Balance, participants explored accessible, functional exercises designed to support the body in everyday life.

Combining seated and standing sequences, members used resistance bands and rhythmic movement to activate the core, legs, and upper body. Each session balanced stability with challenge, gradually introducing coordination, weight shifting, and postural control—key elements for safe, confident mobility.

Movement set to music encouraged timing, focus, and sustained engagement, helping participants connect with each exercise in a more intuitive and enjoyable way. By mirroring everyday actions like reaching, carrying, and transitioning between positions, members built not only strength and endurance, but also confidence and ease in how they move through the world 💪🏻

At GenSpace, meaningful connection often grows through member-led experiences. Open Mahjong has become a consistent space where members gather through shared routine and peer-driven engagement.

Sustained by regular participation, this informal session highlights how impactful activities don’t always require formal instruction. The game itself supports attention, memory, and decision-making, while the social setting fosters confidence, familiarity, and a sense of belonging.

With many members returning each week, Open Mahjong has become more than a game - it’s a reliable touchpoint for connection, built through shared play and community 🀄️

Creative practice offers members a space to build both skill and focus through hands-on exploration. In our Painter’s Palette class, members worked step by step to create a landscape scene, developing foundational techniques like color mixing, brush control, and composition.

As each painting took shape layer by layer, members engaged fine motor skills and visual-spatial awareness while sustaining attention and expressing creativity. The process emphasized both learning and enjoyment, culminating in a finished piece that reflected individual effort and growth.

Experiences like this highlight how art can support cognitive engagement, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment within a collaborative, supportive community 💙
