DEO joined Supervisor Holly J Mitchell and LACDA to announce the completion of major façade renovations for La Mexicana Meat Market and the 99¢ Store along the Firestone Boulevard commercial corridor in Florence-Firestone.

Since 2015, the RENOVATE Façade Improvement Program has invested more than $11 million in façade improvements, supporting 125+ businesses across all five Supervisorial Districts. The program helps improve storefront exteriors, safety, and accessibility to attract customers, increase foot traffic, support local jobs, and strengthen commercial corridors.

Investing in pathways to high-road careers 🏗️

Team DEO visited SLA’s training facilities supporting the Careers for Change: Landscaping and Construction Training Program through the High Road Training Partnerships (HRTP) Fund.

During the visit, DEO leadership connected with program staff and partners supporting Cohort 3 participants as they build hands-on skills for careers in landscaping, construction, and related trades.

Programs like HRTP continue to expand access to workforce training, economic mobility, and quality career pathways for justice-impacted communities across LA County.

Celebrating community health leaders in the Antelope Valley 👏💙

DEO was proud to celebrate 10 Community Health Worker graduates as part of our Careers for a Cause (C4C) program. C4C supports individuals with lived homeless experience in gaining training and employment in the social and homeless services sectors, building economic mobility for workers and a more empathetic workforce as we face our state of homeless emergency together.

During the ceremony, DEO’s Gary Johnson shared leadership remarks recognizing the graduates’ hard work and commitment to serving their communities through careers in community health and care coordination.

Thank you to Amity Foundation, Partners in Care Foundation, DEO’s Palmdale America’s Job Center of California, and all workforce partners helping expand pathways into quality healthcare careers across LA County.
