This Labor Day weekend, DEO honors the workers who keep our communities strong. Labor Day is a celebration of dignity, fairness, and the countless worker contributions that move our economy forward every day.

In recognition, on Monday, September 7th, all DEO offices will be closed, including the America’s Job Center’s of California and East LA Entrepreneur Center. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8th.

LA County DEO is announcing nearly $6.9 million in new funding through Cycle 3 of the High Road Training Partnership (HRTP) Fund!

Up to seven grants of up to $1 million each will support workforce training programs focused on wildfire recovery, water infrastructure, LA28 opportunities, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence.

Eligible partnerships may include community-based organizations, organized labor, employers, educational institutions, job centers, apprenticeship programs, and training providers.

Applications are due October 30, 2026 at 12 PM PDT.

LA County DEO’s Financial Clinic offers free, confidential financial guidance, education, and resources to help business owners strengthen their financial health, manage challenges, and plan for growth.

Services include:
✔️ One-on-one financial counseling
✔️ Debt and credit counseling
✔️ Access to capital and loan readiness support
✔️ Financial education workshops
✔️ Business planning, budgeting, and more

📅 Upcoming workshop begins this Tuesday, September 8 and continue throughout September, with in-person and virtual options available across LA County.

All workshops and services are free and available in English and Spanish.

Team DEO joined the Office of Congresswoman Luz Rivas at the Sun Valley Branch Library to connect local nonprofits, community organizations, and small businesses with resources and funding opportunities.

DEO Assistant Director Leila Lee shared how our programs support businesses across LA County, while our Office of Small Business team provided one-on-one guidance and connected attendees with additional services.

🎬 Big win for California’s film and television industry!

SB 186 and AB 2319 have officially passed the California Legislature and headed to the Governor's Office, strengthening incentives for independent productions, making tax credits easier to use, and creating a new post-production tax credit beginning in 2027.

Together, these measures will help keep production and post-production work in California, support good-paying creative jobs, and strengthen Los Angeles County’s position as the premier global hub for film and television.

The LA County Film Office, housed within DEO, remains committed to supporting policies and resources that help productions, workers, and businesses thrive locally.

🍽️ Another local sidewalk vendor is ready to roll!

Today, DEO’s Sidewalk Vending Team presented Rocio Martinez Huacuja with a new Revolution Hot Holding Cart in Pacoima.

The cart will help Rocio safely serve hot foods, grow her business, and continue serving the community. This pickup is part of DEO’s ongoing efforts to provide eligible sidewalk vendors with the equipment and support they need to succeed.

A care-first future is taking shape at Los Angeles General Medical Center.

Team DEO joined Supervisor Hilda L. Solis and County partners to celebrate the opening of three new behavioral health facilities at the Restorative Care Village: a 24-hour Mental Health Urgent Care Center, Residential Withdrawal Management Program, and Psychiatric Subacute Facility.

These new facilities represent a major investment in a stronger continuum of care that connects LA County residents to mental health care, substance use disorder treatment, recovery services, housing, and long-term stability.
