Our final program highlight features ESC's oldest active program, Jubilee Consortium in Los Angeles, California! Having served Los Angeles for 30 years, Jubilee Year is imagining new forms of a service year in 2025. The program is focusing on food justice and local applicants from Los Angeles County for a non-residential fellowship opportunity. If you fit this intersection, applications for the fall are open now!
Fellows will spend their year collaborating with food justice partner agencies, helping to expand their capacity for change-making. Fellows also engage in a rewarding food justice curriculum and leadership development program that emphasizes intentional living, service to the community, professional/personal life balance, and spiritual formation. Together, the Jubilee Year community lives, serves, laughs, plays, laments, celebrates, and supports one another in becoming the change we need to see in the world.
Jubilee Year has had a lasting impact on its alumni. Faith, who served in 2018-2019, says, "The friends I made during my service year are still my chosen family. We celebrate birthdays, graduations, and new jobs, and we grieve together through loss, heartbreak, and the hard moments life throws our way.... I’ve learned how special it is to have people you can count on, even if they were once strangers. That kind of connection comes from doing the scary thing, being vulnerable, having honest conversations, and showing up for each other."
