Access to STEM and creative programs today opens the door to tomorrow’s careers. 🤖🎨

This week, I joined students at the Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology 6-12 Complex for their Annual Mechatronics Symposium & Resource Fair, where middle and high school students showcased robotics, engineering, advanced STEM, and art projects they developed throughout the year.

Preparing our youth for the future economy means making sure they have access to hands-on learning opportunities right here in their own community.

I’m so proud of the creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving on display, and grateful to the educators, families, staff, and partners who continue creating spaces where our students can lead.

Honored to join the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society for their 2026 Conservation Awards Luncheon!

The Sepulveda Basin is the Valley’s green jewel and a personal favorite to recharge. The SFVAS does incredible work in the Basin and that’s why I am proud to secure $10,000 to continue their efforts!

Congratulations to this years honorees and thank you to the SFVAS board and volunteers for this ecological treasure!

This Pride Month, we celebrated leaders who turn joy into action. 🏳️‍🌈

Ayleen Enriquez is one of those leaders. Through Same Difference Co, Ayleen and her co-founders bring mental health awareness, harm reduction, and community care, she builds spaces where BIPOC youth feel seen, affirmed, and ready to lead. Thank you, Councilmember Jurado, for leading this important presentation

Q***r joy as radical resistance — in action. 💜 Congratulations, Ayleen. ***rJoy

🍩 Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

Being born and raised in the Valley, I know the heart of our communities lives in our family-owned small businesses. This National Donut Day, I had the pleasure of visiting a local favorite serving Sun Valley since 1979, while our CD6 team spread across the CD6 to recognize some of our sweetest neighborhood spaces: our local donut shops!

For nearly five decades, these shops have done more than serve coffee and donuts. They have been vital community spaces where families gather, neighbors connect, and community is built one early morning at a time.

Thank you to the hardworking owners and staff for your early mornings, and for keeping our communities sweet and lively.

Staying safe on the job is a team effort! 🐾✉️

Did you know that the United States Postal Service asks pet owners to keep their dogs in a separate room when receiving mail and to ensure they aren’t roaming unleashed during delivery hours? Let’s help our local carriers stay safe while they deliver our packages and letters!

Meet Crystal A2074633 and Tigre A2257890

Crystal is a 10-year-old spayed female weighing 84 lbs. Crystal is a super sweet girl with a calm and gentle demeanor. She’s done well in playgroups with other dogs at the shelter, but prefers humans and affection over playtime.

Tigre is a 2-year-old neutered male weighing 99 lbs. Tigre is an energetic boy who loves to play fetch, craves attention and affection, sits for a treat, and loves to play with other dogs!

Both dogs are available for adoption or fostering at our East Valley Animal Services Center.

LA Animal Services will offer special fee adoption weekends throughout June to help the pets in our six Centers find loving homes. Like many shelters across the country, the Department is facing high intake numbers of cats and dogs, with medium and large-sized dogs making up the majority of the pet population.

Furry friends adopted from LA Animal Services join their new families already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters also receive a Petco flyer with discounts to help make their pet adoption a success, and a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 of follow up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, dogs are eligible for free dog training classes with Paws for Life K9 Rescue at their People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA. To see the amazing animals available to adopt or foster, go to LAAnimalServices.com/pets.

The six LA Animal Services Centers are open Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 5pm. Centers are closed Mondays and City-observed holidays. For more information about LA Animal Services, visit: laanimalservices.com.

We are absolutely thrilled to share a look back at our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for this incredible new mobile unit! Designed to expand access to Head Start services across the San Fernando Valley, this mobile classroom is all about meeting families exactly where they are.

By bringing vital early childhood services directly to the communities of greatest need, we are opening new pathways for children to learn, grow, and thrive. This initiative is more than just a classroom on wheels—it’s our commitment to planting seeds of hope, growth, and lasting impact that can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined the UCLA Head Start family at our Arleta site to celebrate this powerful step forward. Together, we are driving change!
